2nd ablation

I had a cardioversion in April in Spain and all was well for a few weeks. On arriving back home (Switzerland) things weren’t looking so great. My electrophysiologist recommended a 2 nd ablation ( first one in 2019)

It’s now 4 weeks after the ablation and everything was fine until the other day when my Kardia showed Sinus Rhythm with Supraventrical Ectopy Can anyone explain this?

Ectopic beats coming from the left atrium. Very common as we explain in our fact sheet on recovery and basically benign though can be irritating. Try deep slow breathing.

Thanks Bob,

It is irritating as it’s something I’ve never had before. I will try the deep breathing and hope it settles down. Apparently I have an enlarged left atrium and wondered if that has anything to do with the ectopic beats.

I’m flying back to Spain tomorrow for 3 months but can be in touch with the EP here and know of a good cardiologist in Spain.

Don't worry. This is very common. I'm about 12 weeks post 5th ablation and capture this from time to time. Thankfully nowhere near as much as prior.

Thanks Jalia

I’ll try not to worry and practice some deep breathing. I suppose it’s positive being in Sinus Rhythm

Absolutely. Try to ignore as much as possible.

You mentioned whether your enlarged left atrium was to blame. My very recent echo showed only a very slightly enlarged left atrium, which rather surprised me considering my extensive AF history.

I imagine that all sorts of factors come into play to cause these annoying odd beats.

Wishing you well

J

It sounds like you might not have any choice in the matter but I note that you had a flight after the first ablation and are flying again now 4 weeks past 2nd ablation.I couldn't even walk round the block easily after my 3 ablations and I'm a pretty fit woman in my late 40s.

It sounds like you're putting a lot of pressure on yourself. I wouldn't have coped with the flight, plus the waiting round and getting back and forth airport etc. Its a big load on your post surgery, delicate heart

Do take it easy!

I am now in my HAPPY PLACE after a smooth journey to Spain. It’s only 30 minutes to the airport at both ends so not a lot of stress.

I have 3 months here to relax and hope that the ablation has been successful. In time I’ll be playing some golf and some gym work. For now it’s a dip in the pool.
