Quite often Cryo is very much faster than RF as it tends to be one size fits all whereas with RF they need to do spot burns of the areas firing off.

& just to be contradictory touch ups can be faster, depending on how much they have to touch up! My first ablation was 5 hours I think, 2nd one under an hour!

Do they actually touch little bits up with Rf or do all 4 p veins totally again ?

I think your RF ablation may take a little longer. I've had 3 of them and they all took different times, from 3-6hrs. I used to have a piece of paper on my desk here that listed the dates and times, but you know what happens to bits of paper - they disappear and are never seen again! I thought I'd typed it up and put it on my PC - cant find it there either! Drives me mad.

All depends on what they need to do. If it is a touch up it can take as little as 45 mins. My second ablation was RF and took less than an hour. As usual with AF everyone’s case is a little different so pointless dwelling too much on how long and just think about how well you will feel afterwards. 👍

cheers all. I’m not too worried about it tbh after my 1st one. Just hope it does the job. Prof osman is a top ep. So fingers crossed

Ah I missed that. What was he saying in general ?

Didn't go into a lot of detail but just said about the connection between sleep apnoea and heart issues, AF being one of the most common and some chap who'd had problems. They then cut to The Prof in a cath lab and he said a couple of lines. To be honest, I wasn't taking a great deal of notice as I'd had a tooth out yesterday afternoon and was slobbering into a pile of kitchen roll. 😁

I just had my second. It was 2 hours and took about as long as the first but there was a new condition to treat - A-flutter. Otherwise the "touch-up" would have been shorter. It all depends. My EP didn't re-ablate the pulmonary veins. He mapped and zapped - only what was necessary.

Thanks. I’ve Often wondered if they redo all 4 pv with Rf
