return of the ectopic

Hi guys

Fourth time posting and feeling more confident and more knowleable about my condition. Thank you.

After one failed ablation for permanent AF and two failed ablations for Atrial flutter, my cardiologist took me off Flecainide, added Sotalol to my mix and I had a fourth cardioversion on 2 July.

And STILL today in SR with a heart rate between mid 40s- mid 50s. Never ever has a cardioversion worked longer than a week😌

But three nights ago the ectopic beats returned. 5 per minute. In the afternoon and evenings.

So searching for a positive story. Has anyone been in SR after a conversion and NOT gone back into AF or Atrial Flutter following a few days of these hateful things?

🙏

I don't have any experience that will help but thought that I would reply. I can only say that the ectopic beats you are having, which are like I have pretty much all the time, likely arise in the same general area as your AF (the left atrium), but, so far as I know, are not a predictor of AF itself. Their return does suggest that the conduction problems in the atrium have, in part, resumed, however.

I find ectopic beats as hard to cope with, in fact perhaps more so, that the AF I get.

I agree about the ectopic beats as harder to bear than the AF. Even though we know, theoretically, that they aren't necessarily dangerous (controversial opinion in the long term I believe) they feel so intrusive. And remind me about my mortaility when I don't want to be reminded. I'm sorry you have the burden of them all the time Ppiman. Mine are only afternoon/evening and today not as much as yesterday.

Thank you for replying.

Thank you!

Mine aren’t continuous often, in fact, more like yours with late afternoon and evenings being worse. They do wax and wane, but have worsened a great deal this year.

I wonder whether AF isn’t considered more seriously only owing to its stroke / thrombosis risk?

Your description of how they make you feel is spot on. I haven’t read better.

yes a couple of times post CV but I breathed my way through it slow and steady all through my nose. I’ve really become confident of suppressing these ectopics through breath work. Yogis can control their heart rate through breathing correctly! I’ve reduced sugar and only through fresh fruit with its fibre. Only decaf little alcohol in other words less stimulants and more things that help calmness ie magnesium Vitd3 and exercise but not vigorous.

Post CV it now takes about a month before I don’t notice ectopics. Take the first month or two seriously post CV while your body adjusts. You can do this!

ahhhhhh yes. THANK YOU. Everything you say. I appreciate the support SO much. Im still hanging in there so I will work on the breathing. Stimulation seems to be at the root of it all. I will work on being less frenetic. Thank you.

I agreee with the slow nasal breathing, potassium and magnesium rich food. I see swimming in your nickname. Have you tried swimming? I swim every day it helps with my breathing and stopped my palpitations
