Health insurance for holidays in Europe for UK citizens domiciled in the UK.

76 year old with permanent AF after ablation, and hypertension. I can’t find a way to search for previous threads on this.

I’ve tried to get some online quotes without any luck. To be fair I do have a quite complex medical history and some interesting near death experiences. Perhaps I should just be grateful that I’m still alive and stay at home! 🤔

But then I would never get to see the magnificent Millau Viaduct in the south of France!

I would be grateful if anyone could recommend a company who might take me on.

Search for previous Posts?

Use the HU Search 🔍option at the top of the page, although you do need to experiment to find the best search terms.

I just used "Holiday insurance" and found loads of relevant Posts ...

Good luck!

I had complex issues and couldn’t find anything on line but I did find insurance with travelinsurance4medical (part of World First) but again not on-line, I had to ring them.

You need to go to specialist travel insurers. I also found out that you can still get the European Health Card through the NHS - nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/health...

We just returned from Ireland and I must admit I didn’t take out travel insurance for that trip but made sure that both OH & I had the GHIC card.

I also used All Clear travel insurance for my recent first trip abroad since 2017. I have a number of medical problems, including AF and one that is still undergoing diagnosis.

They were recommended by an insurance broker that I know and at his suggestion I called them rather than trying to do it online.

Of course, they always quote their highest level of cover first so make sure you only buy the level of cover you actually need. Hopefully you won’t need it ;-)

Good luck

Try PayingTooMuch.com I found them by far the cheapest even better than AllClear, Staysure and all the rest

Hi Jim I too have complex health issues in my 70's. I tried a few online and found All Clear the simplest and cheapest covering everything I needed. There is a phone number too. Just have everything ready (medical history etc) to answer them. There's Gold, Silver Bronze. Best wishes

Another vote for All Clear. There isn’t much they won’t cover.

Yay get a more meaningful response if you ask about experiences when a claim was necessary. The quote below I found on line "There are several links in the chain: the company that sells the insurance; the company that processes the claim; and the underwriters who may be a reputable company but policies that they underwrite may be sold by a range of brokers using variable claims management companies, some of whom may be dire."

We used a company back in 2012 so am not going to mention as much changes. We rang on the way to the private hospital, recommended by the doc who visited in our hotel. The next day the Insurance Co wanted us to move to a public hosp ( no24hr translators) but I persuaded them to give 48 hrs in Hospiten (Lanzarote) The care was superb. 24hr monitor echo and bloods all done on a Sunday.

They took our credit card but only took a deposit. They dealt with the Insurance company and kept us informed ( it was a Spanish underwriter) Hospiten said underwriters were very tardy but in the end all we paid was for medication. We got taxi fares to hospital back .
