Has anyone applied successfully to take part in any trial anywhere in the UK? If so, how do you apply/register your interest and what is the general procedure/timescale etc/. Does your GP need to be involved. This would be for persistent AF with no other comorbidity.
Basically any information would be very helpful, thank you, Sue

From what we have seen here over the last ten years or so it is pot luck if your chosen EP team are working on anything new. Here in UK I'm not aware of any volunteer list.
Hi Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) are involved in a series of trials and research led by Prof Betts. I’ve taken part in two - one involving new imaging and pulse field ablation techniques and one where a Watchman device was inserted in my left atrium to improve the flow and reduce the risk of stroke. That was two years ago and am monitored initially 3 and six monthly now annually.
I was under the Arrythmia team at OUH back in 2019 and expressed an interest in trials and research which they followed up.
I am not sure where you’re based, how and whether they’re recruiting for more trials as invariably it’s down to funding.
Around 2 years ago after my first ablation, I took part in a clinical study looking into Apple Watch ECG scans to see if they could replace ECG scans in GP Surgeries or Hospitals post ablation.
