This will be raising concerns in our circles I suspect. I know it sent me to my kitchen pantry checking ingredient labels.

It is of concern. The sugar alcohols: sorbitol, xylitol and erythritol can send platelets (clotting) for some into overdrive. Best to avoid them.

I though most of us already knew that artifical sweetners were poison?

It's a new study. And 'most' isn't 'all'.

stevia is the more natural kind of sweetener I believe. You can get pure stevia which is more expensive. Most that you see are ‘ with stevia extract only’. I now get the pure stevia as it’s more of the actual product and less bulking. I only need 1 of the pure stevia as it’s otherwise 2.

Now to the research you’re saying about. I’m not changing anything on the research you’ve quoted as the studies are both quite flawed. And the previous research quoted in the original article admits it’s serious limitations. So I’m continuing with my pure stevia.

Extracting ourselves from processed foods is a gradual process, accept that and keep going!!

That is interesting. The numbers were very low, at ten people, but a matched study was done and every one of the ten had disturbed clotting.

I have always aimed to avoid artificial sweeteners where I know they are in food - but thanks for this.

Try and avoid all artificial sweetners. Cook fresh from scratch. Always been the best way.

What annoys me is items that state no added sugar and you look at the ingredients and they have substituted sugar with sweeteners. Same with some low fat products, they add sweeteners to compensate. Takes ages to do your shopping with the rubbish they include in the ingredients. I always blame sweeteners for giving me AF in the first place. Dreadfully toxic.

I blame the 'sugar tax'. Before this was brought in you didn't have to worry too much about checking food for sweeteners. Now manufacturers are using less sugar to avoid the tax but adding all sorts of artificial additives; I avoid Aspartame like the plague but you find it and others in all sorts I have always been able to taste them and have given up on some things altogether that I used to enjoy.
