magnetic therapy patches
Good morning
Thank you for your post on the Atrial Fibrillation Support forum.
Hopefully another member will be able to advise you if they have used a magnetic therapy patch before, it might be best to check with a Medical professional who will be able to advise you if they are safe to use when you have AF.
Kind regards

A long time ago, way before I had AF, I tried those types of magnetic stuff for back pain from scoliosis. It didn’t help; what finally helped was having my back revised and I’m pain free now 14 years later at age 82.
Revised, in my case, was revision surgery; I had corrective syrgery(1956) which failed at age 59.
yes I put a couple on today but done nothing my problem is my hip but think iv overdone physio exercises need to do little and often rather than a full on workout I asked chemist yoday what I could take with AF and if your on apixoban I know not to take ibuprofen but he said can take Co codomol or Co dydromol as for surgery I'd rater give that a wide berth
Rest , short period of well covered ice or warm pad depending on which gives more relief. You can try a topical gel rather than an oral medication that contains pain relief because it doesn't interact with the medication.Scale back your physio to working within your comfort zone , when that level becomes easy add a tiny bit at a time. Never push it, No Pain. No Gain is a dangerous myth.
My Physio always recommends stopping any client before they get tired and still feel they could do more, and practising Body Mindfulness keeping a thought about your posture , balance and not overextending joints during each exercise. It's the best way to keep exercising consistently without injury or pain with any firm of long term health condition.
Magnetic therapy patches are pointless I'm afraid.
Ask your Pharmacist.
I think that your doctor will tell you:
a) placebo benefit only, don’t waste your money unless that’s what you’re after
b) No impact versus AF so go ahead if that’s what you fancy
c) Don’t go near such magnetic stuff if you have a pacemaker
- so definitely talk to a doctor.
Remember that there’s an almost unlimited amount of quackery out there!
I was trained in Biomagnetic therapy using Strong Neodynium magnetic products of various types. A PACEMAKER wearer should avoid products unless directed by a medical consultant.
I have various very strong magnetic mats, wraps and bracelet. I currently have a large mat with many magnetic discs in, in my bed. I have not experienced any adverse effects. I also wear a strong bracelet. Depending on where you wear/use the product depends on how large the field of effectivity.
I also have some VERY strong magnetic wands for pain relief, these are very effective, I have used it on my shoulders, not deliberately over my heart to be sensible.
I have not felt any adverse effects on my heart, I had an ablation end February and I did avoid using the bed mat for a while to be cautious, as I’ve not had personal experience.
Do you know the strength of the magnets and manufacturer?
hi no I don't know the strengh just the tiny small patches felt no effect though tried them as not sure about pain relief tablets but my chemist said can use cocodmol rather than paracetamol
