I’m having a first ablation for SVT in mid-august. I’m wondering how soon I might have relief. My condition wavers between tachycardia and bradycardia. Symptoms are intolerable dizziness and inability to function. I’m in the USA (unfortunately) and we want to leave the country for a month between October and November to escape the election chaos. Do you all think it’s safe to travel a month or so after an ablation? I’m getting excellent care at Duke hospital.

ablation success?
It depends on what you are going to do. I was exhausted for.months afterwards so couldn't walk much etc but if it is restful I expect I could manage. Make sure you have good travel insurance too 👍
Everyone is different in terms of recovery and each Ablation is unique to the patient.
Although the procedure itself is nothing to worry about and you may be in and out on the same day as I was, or perhaps in for one night and feel fine, your heart has had lesions carefully formed on it which need time to heal before you make it work hard with exercise or stress.
As long as you don't intend to run for a bus to the airport or carry tons of luggage, and as long as your holiday is about relaxation rather than, for example, walking all day, I personally think you'll be good to go after a month.
Hi, I've had 3 ablations and I wonder now whether the fact the first 2 didn't stick was because I put my heart under stress too soon, also there is a significant initial risk of stroke/TIA with ablation within the first 30 days of the procedure. Docs advice re recovery is not as accurate as the people who have experience on this site. So take it easy and don't rush.
I had an ablation procedure 8 wks ago, during the procedure I felt such intense chest pain, so painful, has anyone else experienced such pain during their ablation?
