Recently saw post which suggested a possible side effect of Tamsulosin ie Flomax could be AF? Anyone have any evidence of this..been taking it for twenty years!

it would seem for any given patient it may have the potential of precipitating episodes of AFib in patients with PAF as it may affect autonomic nervous system balance and increase parasympathetic tone.

I’ve been taking it daily since 2007 and haven’t identified it as a trigger or any other kind of problem. And I wouldn’t want to be without it !

My experience was not good!

Taking for a few weeks and noticed an increase in AF episodes starting with every few days and then increasing to every day. Also my normal episodes are HR =70-120 they started going up to 175 plus. Called ES on last occasion has HR was constantly over 175. ES said they had seen this before with Tamsulosin although very rare.

Stopped taking immediately and went back to my normal with a few days.

This is MY experience only if that helps?

I had not noticed an impact on my A-fib episodes however I did experience fairly severe orthostatic hypotension when using it. So it would not surprise me if it could have that potential to impact the heart in that manner as well.
