That is indeed interesting, I took citalopram for several short periods (3-6months each time) of time over the years prior to my AF starting, including up to the first diagnosed episode I had in 2009.
Thankyou for this article; I take Lexapro and I'm also on a high dose of Sotalol. I will be showing this article to my EP next week.
Interesting but it doesn't mention AF which is NOT long QT syndrome. Think this is a another case of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing. Also USA study not mirrored in UK or Europe at this time.
In 10 or so years from now. I think we will all be aware that the drugs caused most of today's symptoms.
does anyone have a list or know which antidepessants if any should not be taken by
anyone with AF
I was on Citalopram, dosage ranged from 10-40mg depending how bad I was, within 6 months of me stopping taking it my AF got considerable worse! Was undiagnosed for at least 10 years so was taking Citalopram whilst having episodes of AF which doctor put down to me going through the change, even though I was relatively young at the time!
I too have been in Citalopram for years and have had two episodes of AF in the last month, now on 120mg Sotalol twice a day and Rivaroxaban
