So the arrhythmia team contacted me yesterday to discuss the result of my ECG done at my local surgery . Apparently although the test showed an an abnormal pattern with wide QRS it was a minimal deviation and not any form of AF . It could be an age related change but my sinus rhythm was normal and the feelings I’m getting are more likely to be subtle ongoing ectopics . She explained my heart is possibly trying to go into AF but not quite making it if that makes sense . The signal from the bottom of the heart is taking a slightly different route which explains the wider pattern and delay showing up as QRS . I was glad to have the opportunity to talk through my concerns and I’ve been told that at this time there is nothing to worry about which is a relief . We also talked about my upcoming valve replacement surgery which will probably have some effect on my AF and will be managed by the hospital until I’m discharged but the EP team I’m under currently will then monitor things and if necessary consider further evaluation and intervention .
All this because of a Kardia mobile reading I’d not seen before so I’m glad I made the effort to find out more rather than just ignore my concerns . A big thank you to all those responding to my original post , it’s so reassuring to have this support and be able to talk to others when you’re feeling a bit worried.

Good & reassuring news for you. Onwards now to your AVR, might still be worth a discussion with your surgeon regarding a potential LAA clip and ablation. No harm in asking the questions just for your peace of mind.
Thank you , I’m having the LAA clip but I will discuss the potential for any AF intervention with the surgeon prior to going under . I was told the clip only reduces the clotting risk rather than any effect on AF
That's right. It's why, with my GP's endorsement that I opted to stay on anticoagulants post AVR. In my thinking the AF may return at any time despite having had two ablations.
Hi there. I didn't see your original post but having recently had a similar experience- weird reading on Kardiamobile- I'd recommend you, or your GP, sending the reading to your cardiologist. Sometimes these rogue readings need careful and specialist interpretation. I'm really relieved I did this.
I did and the hospital called to tell me it wasn’t serious just a deviation of the signals . Always worth checking , it was the first time my Kardia has read anything other than possible AF or normal sinus rhythm so I felt I needed to know more
Very wise. I was really quite worried mine was Ventricular Tachycardia (yikes!) but apparently he thought it was an aberrant form of AF also with a deviant electrical signal.
Even I couldn’t understand the autocorrection in my first sentence! Goodness. How do I miss these things?! 😳 The rest made sense, thankfully.
Here’s something to think about mentioning - my specialist put me on losartan 100mg daily even though my BP was normal as he said with LBBB it’s been shown to be “cardio-protective” over the longer term (i.e. of the ventricles).
It’s always better to listen to someone who interprets ECGs as an important part of their day job! We’re all well meaning people here but we can’t replace proper medical care! Good luck with your valve surgery. I hope it helps your AF too. It’s a big op even if it’s considered routine, so all the best to you.
