I have just received notice of my Ablation procedurec date.
Since this procedure was suggested purely to enable the reduction of one or two of my current medications ,and their terrible side effects on me , will I need to make a phone call and add this fact to my travel insurance details ? It is in my opinion more a convenience than a necessity. My Travel Insurance is already very expensive ? Opinions anyone ??

Difficult since few companies will cover you while waiting for any tests or procedures. Once it is over no problems but do reead our fact sheets on preparing for and recovering from ablation.
Thanks BobD . I read the fact sheet you mentioned a couple of days ago but I cannot find it again. Can you help me to retrieve it and save it. Can’t understand why it’s hiding !! Sorry to be a nuisance.
My Travel insurance only wanted to know about changes for an existing already declared condition at renewal time. I had ablation in December, stopped meds in March and my renewal was May. I had to update one of the answers for my PAF declared condition. The question is what treatment? and answer changed from medication to ablation which brought up another question, have you had any arrhythmia since ablation? answer was yes and my premium was amended to add £12 to a joint policy with another update to wife’s medication for High BP at the same time.
My understanding is that ablation is a treatment option and not a new condition or investigation. I went on holiday while waiting for ablation date without changing policy as they clearly stated I didn’t need to.
I can’t say it’s the same for every company so you need to check with them for peace of mind.
Many thanks Rainfern. This info will be very useful. The appt for the procedure is quite soon so I can wait before I book a holiday I will inform the insurers after the ablation to add to the information.
I've just checked through my medical screening document from Staysure regarding my declaration of PAF and one of the questions is "Do you have any further investigation or treatment planned ?" As an ablation should make an improvement of your condition, they may look at this favourably but I would declare this anyway.
