Hi I have recently had notifications from my watch to report that my Heart rate during the night was ranging from 39-170bpm I had this checked out at the doctors ECG came back as normal then the last couple of day I Have had heart flutters which feels like your heart is racing then it stops I managed to catch one of these episodes while taking my blood pressure You could clearly see my heart beat go up to 150/160bpm then go back down to 70 and the monitor stated I was in AF but when I repeated I was back to normal. I feel ok apart from when I have the flutters and I feel my heart racing. Do you think I need to raise this with My cardiologist or just ride it out?
Heart Flutters : Hi I have recently had... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Heart Flutters
Depends on your treatment plan and what drugs are prescribed. This sounds like normal paroxysmal AF but it you have new symptoms maybe best ask for an appointment.
NB if you have any chest pain SOB or dizzzyness seek medical attention.
Any changes changes need to be discussed with your Dr and Cardiologist or Electrophysiologist (EP). It's hard to catch - as you saw when you were taking your BP.
There's a good value home ECG made by Wellue that you can leave in place for up to 24 hours (a new version works for up to 3 days). Both offer a detailed AI analysis for free. That might be the way forward but since you imply that you have access to a specialist already, then maybe ask?

Having an ECG recorder at home (e.g. Kardia or other) is essential if you're having intermittent episodes. My wife's electrophysiologist was really impressed when she was able to produce traces showing AF episodes she had recorded at home.
Yes, I couldn't agree more, especially when there are other arrhythmias than AF happening. It's good to know what is happening. It seems there are only Wellue and Kardia that are allowed to indicate just what arrhythmias are happening during the trace, with others reporting only "Irregular Rhythm" (although the trace itself would easily show if it was AF, I would think). The Kardia device and algorithm is FDA and NHS approved whereas the Wellue has its AI analysis FDA approved, but it seems the devices themselves aren't. They certainly all work well, though, although in my case, with something called a "wide QRS" both are fooled at times and report wrongly.

We bought the Heal Force Prince 180 monitor back in 2014. It cost the best part of £200 but it was worth every penny. My wife was reluctant about it at first but soon recognised its value because, by being able to see what was going on and using a bit of judgement, we were able to avoid what had been regular visits to A&E (about every two weeks). She's had a couple of ablations since then which seem to have fixed the problem 🤞🤞 but she still uses the monitor occasionally when she feels under the weather, just to make sure it's not her heart misbehaving.
yes it sounds like you are having short episodes of SVT (supra ventricular tachycardia) that are characterized by short bursts of a racing heart that can trigger Afib (for me) but not always. You should mention these to your Doctor. Good luck!
I don't know how long you have had AF, but if this is unusual to YOU, it is time to contact your medical professional. Don't wait it out, it is time to contact your doctor.
