Good morning from NY Hope all is well for everyone.
Background : 67 yrs old A fib diagnosed 13 years ago . Only on rate control beta blocker. Metoprolol 50mg bid. Last captured/documented episode 11 years ago. Also have generalized anxiety disorder not on meds : meditation, breathing and use tools such visualization and tactile distractions
Question : My question relates to the issue of cervical stenosis with a pinched nerve at C7.
I am desperately trying to avoid surgery. PT and massage therapy are helping but I want to take quick trip home to New Orleans and thought a pulse dose of steroids might make the 3 hour flight/trip ( hanging out with family) a bit more tolerable.
I have refused nerve pain meds , typically an anticonvulsant with nasty side effects . Low dose muscle relaxant not out of the question
Does anyone have any experience (s) with this issue and 5 day pulse dose oral steroids ? Please share.

I have atrial fibrilation and eventually had a Pacemaker fitted with the AV node ablated. Best thing I did as now back to normal activities, golf three times per week, weather allowing. I am 79 years old
Last year I had a tumour removed from my paratoid gland, produces saliva to help chew food, and now I have nerve damaged symptems from my left ear to my lower jaw. The pain was quite extreme and felt like very bad toothache, my dentist said my teeth were fine, so back to the consultant who has prescribed a muscle relaxant.
The tablets are Amitriptyline and so far have been excellent for pain relief, am due for a MRI scan to make sure no other problems are causing issues. Will have to wait and see.
Thanks David. Some time ago I was on Amitriptyline for migraines and had to stop because it triggered my Afib. For the cervical neck pain I was offered gabapetin (Gralise; Neurontin).
