Wondering what supplements and brands of supplements everyone is on? I am 46 & live in the U.K. and have paroxysmal AF. I had an ablation 4 months ago. Not on blood thinners anymore. Taking verapamil but Dr advised to come off it soon. I really want to take the supplements that can help me but I know some can make the AF worse especially if they have certain additives / sweeteners in. I started to take some (not sure if it was magnesium or Vit D or Coq10) and it made my AF worse. Have spent hours scouring the internet and looking at specific ingredients but thought I’d ask here to see if anyone can share their knowledge & experience. Thank you!

I would advise that you would get much better value from seeking nutritionist consultation who will take tests and advise on exactly what might help you as an individual rather than wasting money on supplements which you don’t know whether or not you need as we all have individual needs and requirements. You can ask your GP for a VitD level test and various inflammatory markers.

Also lots of free and well researched information on YouTube/Podcasts from The Zoe Healthy Eating programme, The Doctors Kitchen, Dr Chattergee - all Lifestyle Gurus.

I personally take VitD(with K2), VitC, CoQ10 and Reservratrol and certain trace elements to help bone as I am old and have osteoporosis but that is after ditching most of the High Street brands as they were ineffective for me and several made me ill. Good supplementation is very expensive so purity and what is called bioavailability is important and that is worth the research.

Do remember that you can get most of your nutritional needs from a really good eating plan so focus on that first.

May I suggest you read Dr John Day’s book on Cure AFib - he lists the blood tests which will inform you as to what may or not help.

I would choose a recommended supplier first (I use mainly Lamberts Healthcare).

I would then consider Magnesium, Taurine, CoQ10, Krill oil & Vit D with potassium.
