Is Bradypnea and Tachypnea normal?

It’s been 16 months since my cryoablation and my FitBit has logged a few incidences of bradypnea and tachypnea. The charts also show pauses like I didn’t take a breath at all overnight. I am still being monitored by an implantable loop monitor but just wondering if anyone is familiar with this and is it cause for concern given cardiology hasn’t contacted me about it? I had to call cardiology a few months back to ask would anyone need to review me after a year of seeing no one about my afib (they took me off all meds). They said when my ILR battery dies I’ll be contacted so I started taking notes on HR etc when I noticed this other issue.

Pauses in breathing during sleep sounds a bit like obstructive apnoea, OSA

I was tested for that, went into hospital overnight etc, and told no sleep apnea. Maybe this hot humid weather here!

I think I would trust the ILR over the FitBit.

Have you done any research in to if this is something that a FitBit can report by mistake?

Also, can you recall any of the episodes at the time the FitBit reports?

Well the cardiologist needs to advise me on that. I guess at some point I’ll be called in for review. In the meantime, I was just wondering if those conditions were normal or linked to people with afib. And yes don’t think I’d trust the Fitbit but it’s only shown up four times in three months :—)

If it was me I would be asking for a review now, in the main for peace of mind. Do you not have your implant monitored on a regular basis to a) ensure the battery has life left b) that it is pacing you at the correct rate and so on, if not then ask for a check up due to the instances you are experiencing. I too have a Fitbit, clever little thing, but I would not rely on it 100 per cent so ask for a review now rather team wait for the medics to react, or not as the case may be,

As I read the original post, he has a monitor implanted, not a pacemaker.

Thank you for all your comments/suggestions. I think I’ll send this info to my EP to see if they want to bring forward any review given the ILR battery is still active. I notice the bedside monitor lights up on the days my FitBit shows 8-9 breaths per minute or 42 msecs.

Hi sorry to hijack your post but Your fitbit shows how many breaths a minute for you?Mine is the versa 3 it doesn't show my breathing rate or health metrics or sleep data.

Is it because I'm in permanent afib and perhaps your not.

Its supposed to check all these things but does not so is it just me.

Under Health Metrics via the app which is linked to my FitBit watch. I can’t help you re: how to access it. I am supposedly not experiencing afib at present because I had an ablation. Any way good news my query is being passed on to my EP so I guess I’ll find out what 8-9 breaths per minute mean, if anything, compared to average 12-20.

Yes that's pretty low I hope its nothing to worry about. As your not in permanent afib its probably me then the watch can't catch a normal heart rate.

Ive had 3 ablations but as you can see still got afib back

I see your in Australia you've got pretty good EPs there I'm in NZ hope all turns out OK for you.

I’m in the US. Actually Florida. Had my cyroablation at Mayo Clinic. 3.5 years ago, not one episode since. Prior I was in afib 24/7. I hope you’re well .
