BNP levels raised....update......well, not really!

You may recall my post a few weeks ago about this.

My Face to Face appointment turned out to merely be for my GP to listen to my chest, which incidentally is clear...no wheezing etc., and to ask me a few questions.

She did agree to chase up my overdue echocardiogram and get me moved " further up the list".

I had this on14th August (due to a cancellation...not intervention I think!). I phoned the Cardiology dept a few days later, to see how long it would take for the report to get my GP and was told it had to be a read by a consultant first, so this would be in about 2 months!

So basically I am no further on with finding out why i have a raised BNP which i guess is causing me to more SOB.

Watch this space!

Snap . My echo is late September. Chest X Ray next Friday some 3 weeks after request. Various other tests taken three weeks ago and last results I had to ask for this last week. (All OK) .

Good evening.

My recent chest X ray (taken when I attended A&E for a UTI infection) was clear. At least they tell you that at the time and you don't have to wait.

I spoke to my old Consultants secretary this morning and she said if there had been any concerns, the person who carried out the echo would have contacted a consultant, so obviously mine didn't raise concerns...but I have to wait 2 months to find out whats going on!

Best of luck with the echo. Hope you get some answers too.

Hi WB. My experience re echocardiogram was rather different, probably because I’m now under the heart failure team at QA- my echo was done at St Mary’s in May and I saw the cardiologist from QA at StMarys in June. As a result I’m now the waiting list for a CRT-P , having reached the maximum meds I can tolerate with my low blood pressure. My left ventricle EF is 30% and I have LBBB and now permanent AF.

I know they’re pretty busy at cardiology at St Mary’s - it took a fair while last year when I was first diagnosed with HF to get into the system whilst they worked through the backlog.

Have to say once I was ‘in’ so to speak the support has been very good, especially with all the trial of drugs and accompanying tests. I believe Dr Connaughton has retired but still works part time.

I wish you well and hope it won’t be too long before you’re seen. Take care.

Hi KP...nice to know you are still about.

Yes, Mark C HAS retired...bit of a loss, to us, I feel. I was told i am now under a locum, but Mark does still read reports etc., and his secretary, Janet told me today, apparently I am on "his list". Which is quite reassuring. He was/is a good consultant.

Sorry to hear things have changed for you too. Hope you don't have to wait too long for your procedure.

Best wishes.
