I go in for my Ablation next Tuesday. Nervous as hell and hoping it goes well and that I can eventually come off the medication. Fingers crossed.
My EP has asked me to stop taking Flecainide 5 days before the Ablation. The reason he gave me was Flecainide reduces visibility and can mask the areas he needs to treat.
He said also if I have an Afib episode is not to be concerned and only go to the hospital if I am not feeling well.
Has anyone had the same advice prior to their Ablation?
Thanks

Sending lots of luck ahead of the procedure. Have you downloaded the patient information sheet 'Preparing for an ablation' available on our Resources tab on the AF Association website: api.heartrhythmalliance.org...
Yes,so they can see the true picture. If you do have an AF episode, so what? You are in line to get it sorted. Really it would have to be Extra extreme to warrant AnE visit with ablation few days off. ( my personal best was 214/140 quite weirdly proud 😆 )
Understand your nerves, day in the office for the team, nothing unusual! We are wittering wrecks ( well I was,so nearly did a runner in the car park before being frogmarched in by himself and our older son)
The best of wishes, see you after on here for any support or seemingly daft questions.
Please one thing, ignore dubious advice that you will be trotting about as normal in a few days . Not. You must rest, your heart has had a big insult and needs to recover.
It has been a tough week loosing our dog of 14 years and now preparing for the ablation.
I probably will also need to be frogmarched into the hospital!
Yes my EP indicated a week and should be back to normal. While I am fairly fit and from reading other forum members experiences, it seems it may be a bit longer before I can get back into my fitness routine.
So sorry to read about your dog, know your pain. Yes please do rest ,for far longer than the hospital says!, The patient leaflet on here is excellent, written by patients!
I had cryoablation 3 weeks ago under local anaesthetic. The procedure was straight forward and the only real pain was the needle going in to my groin and that wasn't so bad either. Recovery was fairly quick. Did little for 1st 2 weeks but now back going to gym and insertion site all healed up. Try not to worry too much you're team will all be experts. Good luck
I had an ablation in September and was told to stop my Sotalol for 48 hours before, unfortunately, my AFib started the day before I was due to have the ablation and I went to A&E, as my BP and heart rate soar, so I have had instructions to go in, as they want to keep an eye on me and they usually give me something to stop it. They then transferred me to the hospital doing the ablation. Fortunately, the AFib didn’t happen very often and hopefully, the ablation has sorted it now. Good luck with yours.
