Ablation

Good morning I was wondering if I could gather some thoughts on people that have had successful ablations and where they had it if in the UK. I have recently been put on Flecainide as I was getting a lot of SVT type attacks whilst wearing a 2 week monitor. Even though my attacks are a less they still happen but they feel different since taking Flecainide 50 g i am also on Soltalol 40g and apixaban. The cardiologist had advised me that we were heading for the ablation route if Flecainide did not work I have been taking it three weeks and I've seen improvements, my diet is very good now and I have lost lots of weight and keep fit daily or every other day and I'm able to run bike, row in the gym. I have been getting very anxious when I see my heart rate is rising on my Fitbit sense 2 can anyone offer any advice kind regards Andrew (Nottinghamshire)😑

Morning I was able to stabilise on Flecanide, as a Pill in pocket at first, then daily dose, as well as the lifestyle improvements.

I did eventually find that the AFib and AFlutter got the upperhand and had a double ablation in June 2022. No flutter since,a couple of AFib episodes and on the list for RF touch-up ablation as a precaution, to get decided at next review ,at which I shall drop the flecanide prior.

This was at University Hospital Coventry Warwick,Glenfield Leicester is also very good.

Thank you it is reassuring it is very daunting on this road but is very comforting to hear from people that have been through AFIB.Thank you 😊

I was first diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB) and prescribed Flecainide. A while later, I was also diagnosed with Atrial Tachycardia (ATACH), which is a sudden rapid beating of the heart. I eventually had two ablations, first for the ATACH and a year later for the AFIB. The ablation for the ATACH was pretty easy, a couple hours in the hospital with light sedation, still awake, and sent home the same day. The AFIB ablation was more complicated, under general anesthesia for several hours, and then an overnight hospital stay.

Both ablations have been successful in controlling my AFIB and ATACH without Flecainide. However, recently I have been put back on Flecainide to control ectopic beats, which are mostly Premature Atrial Contractions (PACs).

I'm a resident of the US, not the UK. So both my ablations were done here in the US.

Best wishes,

Mark

hi ragdoll, I had an ablation and was definitely better, but not entirely free of Afib. I had a “touch up” the next year (as long as the first lol). So far so good for 2 years. Still some funky beats, but no prolonged episodes of afib. I do still take Diltiazem, but I’ve gone from 360mg to 180mg.
