thought I was out of the woods!

I posted on here the other day about being worried my chest infection would cause an episode.

initially my HR was in the 90’s (usually 52) but it came back down in about a day and a half so thought I was ok.

Been on antibiotics now for a day. Was awoken this morning to my Apple Watch telling me I had a high heart rate (it was 120!) I thought uum I think I might know why. Yep here we go again, Afib episode. My pulse is around 130. Going to take my meds now see if the bisoporol brings it down. I’ll take extra if it doesn’t work in the first couple of hours.

That wouldn’t be at all unusual but know that once the chest infection clears it is more than likely that the AF will also clear.

Hope you recover soon and mind yourself, don’t beat yourself up by worrying about it. Lots of lemon and ginger drinks, rest and general coddling of yourself.

Speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear that, Macymoo. Infections of any kind can cause episodes of AF because of the inflammatory response of the immune system. Unfortunately viruses and bacterial infections are an inevitable part of life so it’s something we have to be prepared for now that we have our AF diagnosis.

Interestingly, my husband has been unwell with a virus this past week or so and although I didn’t appear to come down with it, I’ve definitely had an uptick in my ectopics and what I think was a very short AF episode of literally a few minutes. So although I have been “asymptomatic” I do believe my immune system has been beavering away at fighting this virus. It also makes me wonder about so-called triggers because our immune systems are always at work even if we’re not experiencing symptoms of infection.

Get well soon and I hope your AF settles down without too much distress.

Thank you. It’s a whole new way of life. Watch what you eat, drink etc avoid infectious people etc etc etc. Don’t know if it the infection or the Afib that’s making me feel rough now provably both. I’m just going to sit it out 😩😩x

Isn't it a bummer! That's how AF is with me - I fight off or almost fight off a virus and as soon as i start to feel a bit better, off goes the heart. Maybe thats how your body responded when the antibiotics kicked in. It's almost as if it heart 'knows' to hang back while our body is firefighting, and then in it comes. Try not to worry - stay calm and let it take its course. It will get better and hopefully yhr antibiotics will speed up the recovery overall
