Third Attempt.and Fail

Well, Made a trip four hours away to another EP to attempt another ablation for Atrial Tachycardia. Yet again, now a second time, this ridiculously elusive rhythm evaded them and they could not do the ablation . Not sure what options that I have left to me now. Probably will have to take Metoprolol, which allows lots of breakthrough SVT. Basically, I have to just hope the rhythm resolves itself eventually, gets worse so they can fix it, or simmers down enough for the meds to work. Cannot even express how discouraging this is.....

That must be so disappointing after all the planning and phone calls and trekking about it takes to arrange these things in the first place. I found just a failed CV or two bad enough. I don’t know if this helps, but I found I was feeling the disappointment for other people too - my husband, friends and family who’d all been so supportive and once I’d let go of that it felt less weighty!

Hope things resolve for you and meanwhile hope you enjoy some happy festive distractions!

So sorry to hear this Megan, so frustrating for you when you'd been hoping for a cure.

Have you tried avoiding all foods that contain artificial additives, also alcoholic drinks that contain sulphites? Doing that really helped reduce my AF and tachycardia.

Thank you for the responses. It was really pretty awful to have to go through a long EP Study and attempts ablation with no sedation. They felt it was necessary to maximize chances to induce the Atrial Tachycardia. It sounds like my future options are to wait it out, see if it improves on its own, or gets worse. The EP really wanted to see if someone would do an EP Study at night since my symptoms literally happen EVERY night, stating around 7-8pm and ending around 7-8 in the morning. Not likely to happen though! Anyone else have chest pain/burning after an extensive EP study? They paced me for a long time, I am guessing it is somewhat expected..... I have tried all sorts of lifestyle modifications. My pattern is pretty odd, the EP said she hasn't really had any cases like mine. She really seemed to think if someone could do the ablation at night that it would be successful, but she seemed genuinely puzzled that my symptoms were so cyclical and predictable.

"my symptoms literally happen EVERY night, stating around 7-8pm and ending around 7-8 in the morning". I'm no doctor but to me it sounds like your issues are related to your circadian rhythm and the release of certain hormones which it regulates. Perhaps mention this to your EP. It might stimulate their thinking. Good luck.

thanks, Mike. We have checked Cortisol and other things looking at Circadian Rhythm but everyone is just kind of scratching their heads. I wish I could find someone to perform the EP Study at night! It would change the experience quite a bit.

That's rotten for you. I hope you can get some resolution soon, feel better and have a good Christmas.

Megan, were you on your meds up to the ablation? Were you taking any supplements coming up to ablation? It's perfectly normal for them to use both legs for access and therefore both legs are bruised, mine were. I also had pericarditis after mine.
