hi could anyone tell me if they suffer with angina and the only symptoms are a throbbing pain that comes on at the bottom of my throat below the Adam’s apple I don’t have any chest pains or breathlessness just trying to see if this is possible and not acid reflux before I go to the gp thanks for any replies

I think you should ask your GP and get some tests done rather than ask us non medically qualified people . The trouble with such things is we are all different and your version of whatever may well be miles away from soembody else's.

a friend of mine did have that women often present differently . An extra clue is if it comes on in response to effort and improves with rest.. it could be many things but don’t take a chance and insist on being checked out

Hi there. This sounds more likely to be oesophageal spasm which can occur from reflux acidity, anxiety and other reasons. Your GP will advise.

I’ve never had any sprays or anything for angina my cardiologist said I had a 75% blockage in the left lad so fitted a stent and he said the angiogram showed Mild narrowing of the rest of the arteries so was hoping it is not angina but reflux sometimes when it comes on it’s like I’ve swallowed something red hot and it feels like a intense burning pain in my throat and shoulder blades thanks primrose for your advice

I am being treated as if I have angina and been given bp reducing meds and a spray, plus having an angiogram to get to the bottom of my sudden chest pain which took me to A&E three times. No symptoms leading up to it and no concerns on the tests they did. Pain wasn't crushing just sharp, through to back and jaw. But I have family history of heart desease with parents and siblings. I cant think that it would be heart desease but we shall see. Oh they've also given me something to reduce stomach acid in case it's that. So you never know. Always best to go to gp or a& e if chest pain. Good luck x

Does it happen when you are lying down? If it does it’s probably Gerd. If it’s when you are up and moving around that it starts up then it could be angina.

Thanks for replying to my question sometimes it does when I lay down in bed but like yesterday I was just sat in the kitchen and it came on not as bad and I was not doing anything but sat down kind regards Andy

Mine has happened in both situations. So maybe there is different symptoms for many people.

my angina pain does start in my jaw and mouth, then progresses to my chest if I don’t do something about it!
