My afib journey started back in 2021, I had my covid jab and couple of weeks later I had persistent afib for first time ever! I had a cardioversion 2 months later which lasted just over 2 years. I then got covid and a couple of weeks after I get covid again.
Then I had another successful cardioversion back in February this year and been afib free. However middle of October I got covid, didn’t make me unwell at all, just tired and a runny nose……then the other day (couple of weeks post covid) I revert back to persistent afib again!
could this just be a massive co-incidence or could it be a factor?
Appreciate all your thoughts

I don’t think co-incidence. I had been AF free for 3 years until COVID came to call. Since I have AF every infection but they do clear as I self convert.
Any infection is a trigger for AF. On the occasions l have had to go to A/E with a bad episode of AF they have always given me a blood test for infection, amongst other things. I think Covid is the culprit. Make sure your electrolytes are in sync.
The Covid jab of course can affect everyone differently, particularly as I understand there have been different prepared batches by even the same manufacturer. I also understand if you have had 2 or more C-jabs some people become more prone to catching Covid.
Personally with your experience, I would have no more jabs, avoid crowded areas as much as possible and increase my intake of Vitamin D3, C and as a male Prostex (made by Lamberts Healthcare); the latter because it coincidentally contains zinc, Quercetin & other helpfuls. After a couple of years hopefully you heart will have adjusted or you may want to do more research now; possibly starting with the McCullough Protocol Spike detoxification.
My experience: I haven't had any jabs nor have I had Covid. I have read widely on the various publicised opinions. I have taken the above supplements for some years not continuously apart from the prostate one.
Tell me more about the McCullough Protocol Spike Detoxification. I made a mistake several years ago in getting the vaccination (no "boosters"), but I can't do anything about that now. Thanks.
Peter McCullough MD.com. I understand he is a leading American doctor dealing inter alia with the effects of the Spike from C-jabs & Covid. I met him in Bath, England at an event and heave no reason to doubt his efficacy.
Snap - AFib started after a Covid jab in March 2023 finally settling in Nov 2023 - I’ve gone a full year with no AFib issues until I actually had Covid beginning of October this year and another Covid jab end of October - AFib kicked in again a week later - I’m not a Covid vaccine dernier but something with me certainly amiss
Having been paroxysmal for 23 years, I went persistent 2 weeks after a bad run in with covid in Oct 22. Coincidence? Had a second ablation in Jan 03 which sorted things out. I hope. Not least as I currently have covid again as I write…. As others say, any systemic inflammation can bring on AF if one is susceptible. The last straw and all.
It will be worth your, and I suggest anyone who has questions on Covid and Vaccine to follow Dr John Campbell on YouTube. Enlightening and often shocking.
I followed Dr Campbell during the whole of covid and thought he was very interesting and thoughtful on what he told us. But I stopped going to his channel after covid as in my opinion he was going down to many rabbit holes when discussing covid health issues.
This became more apparent when one of his podcasts discussing statistics he stated on CV19 vaccines was discussed on a BBC radio program called “More or less” which showed how the figures were incorrect. So I’m sort of suggesting that like a lot of data on the net, take it all with a pinch of salt.
The virus is far from being like the flu for the common cold and, apparently, does find its way to many organs within the body to cause an immune response; and that, whether to disease or vaccine, must set off some inflammatory changes and those are said to be at the root of AF - so, I would guess you are an unlucky one!
my doctor actually recommended I didn’t have my latest jab. The last two or three boosters my afib reared its head very badly for 5-6 weeks and then the last one put me into permanent afib
After 4 years Paroxysmal with 2 attacks in 18 months I went persistent the day after my 1st AZ vaccine .It took me 2 years to get to a successful Ablation Feb 23.I had all boosters until ablation with the attitude if it makes me worse it may move me up the queue.
A Covid infection a few years ago coincided with a spate of AF episodes - commencing while I was infected and continuing sporadically over the ensuing months. When I told my cardiologist about this at my annual review he advised it was quite common i.e. Covid infection triggering AF and/or increase in AF episodes. My episodes decreased in frequency over the months following the Covid infection, dropping back to circa pre-infection levels. Now they are even lower than pre-Covid but I put that down to better management of my AF triggers.
Yes, Covid does trigger AFib. It did for me, and there is starting to be a lot of evidence that it has and does affect many others - both short snd longer term.
In light of all that, we need to avoid Covid and infections in general. I take vitamin D prophylactically and ignore my doctor who says mine is fine. If I start to feel "off" I take zinc and its companion, Quercetin. I also take ivermectin, a known anti-inflammatory, if I get sick. My cardiologist said no more jabs after my second one because of my reaction.
I was looking at my dad's AFib history and found that he was Afib free for approx 1.5 years. Then after 3rd covid booster his Afib episodes started and became frequent. This year he got Covid and his Afib became persistent around the same time. I definitely think there is a link. I wish there was a solution to revert him back to NSR easily. Cardioversion didn't work on him.
