Can Sodium or Calcium Channel Blockers Worsen SVT?

Okay, so I have a new med that I am trying, Propafenone. I have failed Norpace and also Flecainide. The problem I am having is that it seems that these medicines are making the SVT worse. I have Atrial Tachycardia. I cannot find any information about this. Where can I get more information? My doctor seems to be questioning this but it is very definitely happening with the meds.

That is why Flecainide is supposed to be taken in combo with a beta blocker or calcium channel blocker - it is proarrhythmic! Propafenone is supposed to have the prevention ‘built in’ but I still developed atrial tachycardia with it.

Can anyone explain the physiology of why it causes atrial tachycardia?

I had serious problems with propofenone, a few years back. It made my AF, what little I had then, ultra fast tachycardia and found myself in hospital yet again with difficulty of reducing the rate of 150+. IF this happens it is best to stop the drug and contact the cardiology quick.

Did they have any idea why? I am just so puzzled as to why the medications that they keep giving me to decrease my SVT are causing an increase. It is worth a head scratching!
