Couple of days ago just getting dinner ready and rooom felt as if it was moving I felt giddy and sick had to rest on floor for 5-10mins then giddiness passed but felt sick for a few hours. BP 160/85 and HR 72 , but soon back to normal. No palpitations, chest pain or breathlessness, still feel washed out 2 days later. Only thing I had like this was bouts of tachycardia a couple of years ago.

Anyone got any ideas,or had similar.

Hi, something similar happened to me years ago, before going on AF. GP referred me to a specialist, and I was diagnosed with Meiners disease, after a few tests. He put me on a very low sodium diet which I follow strictly, and those symptoms ceased. Just a though.

Yes I have had those symptoms but it was because after having afib/tachycardia for so long suddenly my heart rate kept dropping into low 40’s sometimes 39. By the time I put on my BP pulse monitor it had gone back to fairly normal

All the best to you. It’s a horrible scary feeling I know

Thanks I have a pacemaker regulated to not drop below 60 to stop it going too low, so should be low HR

I have been A/Fib for over 20 years. I started having infrequent giddy issues about two years ago, I got checked out and it’s down to a low pulse rate which averages 44. A temporary decrease of the rate can cause giddiness. A pacemaker was considered but it was decided to keep it under observation for the time being. I have a similar BP to you - it’s scary - it happened to me once at a supermarket checkout but fortunately it passed quickly.

Hi

I had two giddy spell for 5 minutes after bending over in sun and I got straight. I put it down to heat and too many clothes on. Possibly dehydrated.

A week later fell, exit fire door came back and knocked my head sideways. I was wedged between door and entrance, I found the door handle to pull up. I was due to see Dr. Drove 35 kms overshot a turn off, leaned into a roundabout fully and went dizzy. Found turnoff parked, sat in car. Got out still dizzy grabbed a poe and got into my friends place saying that I was dizzy.

Recovered and relaxed with a drink.

Later I drove 80kms and parked up to sleep. Got a few things done.

I slept in and had an afternoon appointment. Rested and rove 145 kms to Auckland.

Head was sore for a few days. 2 days ago my neck/head clicked.

I have not experienced dizzyiness again.

Your systollic level too high. Mine was high when I had a stroke due to AF and thyroid cancer.

It was not vertigo. I have had that twice in my life.

Check the dosage of your meds. Your BP is not controlled. Should be 120s Systollic.

cheers JOY 74. (NZ)

I hope I'm not completely off course, but your symptom of feeling sick, added to the room "swirling" giddiness, made me think of vertigo. Horrible stuff. Mine was eventually diagnosed as vestibular neuritis, or something similar like labyrinthitis, but it's an infection of the inner ear. Takes time to resolve, but having AF as well wouldn't be nice. When it first occurred to me on waking one morning, I thought I was dying (yes really), and I was stuck rigid in bed for about 8 hours, unable to move to avoid more swirling, and accompanied by constant nausea and feeling sick. As I said, really horrible. Took a long time to slowly resolve.

Sadly I think it's not uncommon in us oldies.

You should likely best discuss this with your GP since there are different kinds of giddiness that have different causes and the doctor is adept at deciding what your particular sensations might have been. Some dizziness is from the inner ear, for example, some from the blood pressure / brain, and some from other causes. Mostly, these are of no long term concern so far as I have been told - but your GP is the person to help.
