after feeling low because my AF seemed out of control, I finally got to see a new cardiologist. he was just lovely! I had increased my dose of bisop myself while waiting to see him, and he confirmed I had done the right thing. I have been on 5mg daily now for about 6 weeks and havent had more than a few mins flutter for about the last 4 weeks.
he said " look, we both know AF is a nuiscance, but it wont be the end of you. BUT I know its is very unpleasant and can seriously impact on your quality of life, so, lets see what we can do about it."
just that attitude made me feel instantly better, then he went on to sugest I might want to have the ablation done again, he said that my heart was in pretty good condition, but that I had some " age related electrical problems"
I should add that I had 2 yrs completely AF free after the first ablation, and he said that sometimes it just needs " touching up a bit"

Great news, so important to have a medic that is on your wavelength and you can understand. I ditched one cardio and one EP before I found one that worked and had annual visits since.
Proves there are some lovely Cardiologists, mine too, falls into that category - he is a perfect gentleman , listens to your point of few, never overbooks himself and my biggest fear is that he may retire before I die. We have an interesting relationship, I qualified as a Canine behavourist (just for fun, no intention of making money out of it as I have my own opinions about that !). I conducted the puppy socialisation at our local GSD Club, and he was my pupil !- pupil is now 'teacher' albeit in a far more important way !!!!!!!
what a great post! I’m 56 and had an ablation in 2020 for flutter. It returned this year, so now on 5mg of Bisoprolol. Like yourself I may need a second ‘touch up ablation’. At some point in the future. Hope you keep well 😊
