hi everyone, does anyone know of a good oximeter that I could buy. My Doctor suggested me purchasing one today. There are loads out there but if someone has one that they are pleased with could you let me know.
Thanks

Zacurate Pro Series 500DL if you can find it in the UK. Inexpensive and had identical readings to the model used in hospitals that cost 10x as much. I got mine on Amazon.
Hi Gillybean,
Mine is a Viatom Wellue. Clips over finger gives reading of Spo2 and heart rate. Bought it in July 2022 for £15.69 from Amazon UK comes with Smartphone App.

I find Braun very good
I've got a super cheap Amazon one. When I had a chest infection my doc said I could use it to monitor my oxygen levels! So the cheap ones must be ok!!!!
I’ve got a Boots own one, bought after my one bought from Amazon packed up. It seems to work ok - haven’t compared it with ‘official’ one - but the previous one came with its own little bag and you could hang it around your neck though I’m not sure why you would want to but I liked the bag. Called AnaWiz or something like that.
I've been able to test a few thanks to being an Amazon reviewer. The unknown brands from China have all been fine but, overall, I'd still go for one made by a well-known brand such as Braun or OxiPro as they are well made, easy to read and have a good warranty.
Bear in mind that a cold finger, or even certain kinds of finger (!), seem not to work well or easily, so you might need to persevere, change finger or even have a bit of luck! Also, they don't measure AF, only oxygen levels and heart rate, but they can pick up an irregular heartbeat, such as that caused by AF or palpitations.
Steve
If your heart rate is very irregular they struggle to pick it up and even when they do it’s usually not very accurate compared to a Kardia - I think they only catch the stronger beats.
That makes sense, yes. I think that they are a useful device for anyone with asthma, chronic bronchitis or COPD but less so for arrhythmia. We got ours when fears over covid were at their height as the severe form of that could cause a sudden drop in oxygen saturation.
Steve
Just as an aside, I wonder why your doctor advised you to buy one.
Mine is made by Kinetik and cost £30 last year. It has on the box In association with St John Ambulance. I thought it must be a good one, but no, it doesn't appear to be one used by St John's, but Kinetik donate to them. It doesn't measure my AF properly and has caused me lots of anxiety. Just tried it again now and and alarm went off to say that my heart rate had gone down to 30bpm. I put it on another finger and it was fine. It also has a pulse rate bar graph display, which rarely works well with my erratic pulse. I'm in constant AF, it appears fine on friends without AF.

Hi I bought a brilliant one on amazon good quality to I've had it over a year with no problems good luck
I have one from one of those health supportcatalogues and one from Walgreens. Both work fine. I would advise starting with a cheap one from a local pharmacy.
