Hello everyone.

After months being in AF non stop went to cardiologist in WGC Dr Papageorgiou shouted HELP.

Dr Papageoriou suggested AV node ablation and pacemaker.

Had it performed in St Bart’s London.

returned for pacemaker setting as one wire was laying properly PM had a lead revision but it’s better but not perfect.

Prof Schilling was happy with it. After having pacemaker wound opened up .

I feel amazing not crawling up stairs on bands and knees not a good look.

Professor Shilling was amazing as top uk cardiologist. Helped me up the step to high bed gave me a hot air bed came to see me before he left at night.

The hospital is 900 years old this year museum history of King George then once in a modern building hits you.

Although taxis and train’s expensive worth every penny .

It’s been amazing experience so if your last option is AV ablate and pace go for it no bruising pain and I’m getting waited on ha love it

Sorry I’ve rambled on just so happy .

All the best Jo.

Thanks jeanjeanie50

I’ve been on Amiodarone for 9 months but stopped straight away. It helped me get a cardio version so mustn’t complain too much. Hope you ok. Xxx

I know the feeling. I have been stuck in it since last October, and had a failed ablation in December. On rate control (Bisoprolol) for now, and my only other option would be pace & ablate if the rate isn’t controlled. So far so good though, and I’m doing ok. However, I remember how bad my sister got - also crawling upstairs. I just have to pause now and again on stairs and hills, until my legs get the energy back - though I don’t get breathless 🤞

I’m relieved to know that there is a back-up option, and posts like yours are so encouraging.

Bless you I had this as nothing else was working. So quality of life not quantity Af stopped me enjoying anything as scared to go out.

So yes there is a back up plan I recommend it. Feel like I’m leaving a review for Amazon .

we’ll after reading your posts I so feel for you.

Some say to me everyone gets palpations.. but there are palpitations then there is Af. !

They think I’m mad. But I ended up with tachycardia induced cardiomyopathy not so called palpitations the only drug that worked was Amiodarone but both consultants were not happy the effects it has on your body. But it gave me months of no Af. I can feel your pain hurt lack of self confidence. I hope you get a cardiologist who can help to improve your life.

Bless you .

Hi glad you’re feeling better, I am also under Dr Papageorgio and he did my ablation in St Barts back in October 2021, fingers crossed I’ve been AFib free since 😊

I had AF for 9 yrs in total. To be able to be rid of all the medication too, is a big plus. I only take apixaban and a statin now.

It must be so good to feel back to normal, so pleased for you. I have been in permanent AF for ages now( at least a year ). Had three ablations and was told nothing more could be done and discharged. Not seen a cardiologist for years and no check ups.

If I win the lottery I’ll go to see your wonderful cardiologists lol.

Hi again

Have you tried to ask for appointment to mention pace and AV ablate. I was told nothing else drug wise will work as I’ve HF so was given 3 choices , I chose pace and ablate.

Worth an ask…… the secretary maybe?

Jo
