Date for Ablation at last!

Hi everyone after a year of waiting in persistent AF, I have just received my letter, with date for Ablation in May. I’m so pleased to be having it finally done, and hopefully relief from constant burden, tinged with trepidation, I may add!! Hoping for a good result. All the best to you all!

How long did you have to wait from going into persistent AF and first getting to see a consultant? Wife went persistent a month ago and GP put in urgent referral to hospital but we've heard nothing.

I wouldn’t hold your breath if I were you. 😟The current waiting time is around 12 months. My cardiologist in Derriford, Plymouth says I can’t wait that long and wants to go straight to pacemaker and AV node ablation 😟

I chased the referral and as an urgent cardiology referral an initial appointment should occur within 6 weeks. Reality in North Devon is that its actually 6 months.

Hi , it’s for the actual Ablation, 13th June. I have been on the waiting list for a year .

don’t fret about going for pace and ablate. I went through 3 ablations and still had to go for pace and ablate. Wish I had been given that option straight away. It was a Godsend when they did it. Finally no more tachycardia!

waiting list for me was 6 months at Leeds West Yorkshire and that was before all the covid stuff.!!!

Good for you - the best part is when it is over! The docs get better and better at it, so I bet all will go splendidly. Remember to take it easy for a bit afterward and follow doc's orders.

For 1st consultation....tests if needed are running at about 10 months, so add that on, and then they'll decide what is needed.

It is. I walked into the Cath lab, and said "I think I'd like to watch this, just not on me" five people in the room at that stage before the EP. Btws he was in the room next door leaning against a counter, legs crossed, arms folded, in his jeans And hoodie, looking so relaxed...and my thought on seeing him was "if he's that relaxed I might as well be relaxed too". Heading for five months nsr and it's great
