Ive been invited to book my covid booster and flu vaccine, of which, I intend to have both.
Im due to have my pacemaker fitted on the 26th Sept and wondering if I should delay the vaccines?
Any thoughts gratefully received.

If you can make a booking that gives you a week before your PM then I would. Also speak to your inviting doctor. I wouldn't want a jab in my left arm just before a PM insertion. I had mine done late july and the worst thing was not being allowed to raise my arm above shoulder height for six weeks. Had to make a sling to tie my left hand to my waist at night.

Thanks Bob. Doubt ill get in next werk and Im having the AV node ablation 6 weeks later.
Definitely want to get the vaccines done but maybe I'll wait to get them done a couple of weeks after the pacemaker is fitted, and in my right arm.
I suppose i should speak to my doctor.
How are you doing now?
Confused Bob was it covid jab that stopped you raising your arm or PM i've had both and never had those restrictions
my cardiologist was keen for me to have my flu/covid jabs before my ablation last November, My flu was mid Sept , Covid mid October. One of the reasons was there were still quite a few cases of Covid around & it gave that extra protection + I wanted to keep well beford that (3rd) ablation
Interestingly I had my invitation to book this afternoon which of course I did straight away. Earliest date available was 3rd October at 9.10. Not sure yet if it is flu and covid or just covid at this stage. Usually flu given at GPs where as this is at covid centre in Tesco's car park.
Im very lucky in that my doctors is also a minor injury centre and a hub for vaccines, so both will be done there. I'll see where they are with bookings on Monday as i suppose they may not have anything for weeks like you.
Thanks Bob.
I think the where depends a lot on each CCG. When the pandemic first started the local health centres (GP surgeries) joined forces and had a common centre at the local sports centre though that has now ended and the normal NHS booking system applies. I may have been able to get an earlier date if I had been prepared to travel some distance.
was double vaxed a couple of days ago, no after effects at all,not even sore arms
yes, not worried about the vaccines themselves, just deciding whether to have them alongside the pacemaker fitting.
obviously same position as you. Covid jab today pacemaker Tuesday. Nurse coming today to do swabs, bloods etc and I asked should I cancel jabs.
She went away and asked cardiology as usually they like 7 days, but they came back and said go ahead.

The only thing I would say is that I had my covid booster and flu jab at the same time last year, and I felt quite ill afterwards. I hadn’t previously reacted to covid or flu jabs so I intend to get them separately this time!
new variant on the way , BBA.4.6 , so you will have to add another jab to that lot .
I would check with my doctor on that one. You are very close to your procedure right now don’t take any chances on feeling ill
Speak to your GP surgery soon. It is likely that the hospital will prefer you to have your jabs before if possible. If you are going to be given any type of antibiotic it is always best to have the jab a week to ten days before or after the antibiotic or completing the course of antibiotics. Your GP may be able to get you in to have one or other or both of your jabs as early as possible if they can I am sure they will try and accommodate that. We are having our flu jab on Friday when our surgery has a walk in clinic - but at other times we have been at the surgery for an appointment for something else earlier in September and our GP has given us the flu jab then - course that's not happening now as hardly ever able to see a GP face to face. Hope you sort it out and everything goes well for you.
All the best,
