I was first diagnosed with Paroxysmal AF in A&E in November last year. I was prescribed Edoxaban and there seemed to be no side effects. I have only suffered one short episode of AF since then at the end of December. Nothing since.
About 3 weeks ago I started to feel that my legs were becoming stiff and I just thought it was because I was not doing my usual amount of exercise. Then I started to get pain in one of my hips which lasted a few days. Now I have a really painful knee joint and it isn't due to any injury.
I have read that blood thinners can cause joint pain and I wondered if anyone here has experienced anything similar. Is it likely that the Edoxaban could start to cause this after 6 months in which I have experienced no side effects?
I would be grateful for any input. Thanks.

If you have such rare episodes of AF, I would question your need for an anticoagulant. Unless your AF episodes are long and your heart beats very fast when you have an episode you are unlikely to be at risk of stroke according to what I was told. And if they are causing you harm try giving them up for a trial period. I stopped taking them after unpleasant side effects and am still around (79 f) but we are all different.
I have increased joint pain with Apixaban worst in my lower back. This started after I had been on it for several months. I only made the connexion when I was taken off for 8 days before my first hip replacement op. My joint pain ( even in the hips where I had no cartilage left) improved a lot . It came back when I restarted 2/3 days after op . While off I had Lovenox injections.
