Edoxaban to Apixaban?

Some time ago I read a post that said Apixaban was superior to Edoxaban. I’ve been taking Edoxaban for several years and have no side effects. Can anyone advise? Are there long term problems that I should be aware of? Any advice / comments would be gratefully received.

My understanding is that all the DOACs are of similar efficacy (provided taken in strict accordance with instructions,) so it is a matter of which best suits you. I understand that Edoxaban is more advantageously priced which may be why many centres prefer it. If it ain't broke why fix it?

My very experienced AF nurse, told me that a few years ago she would never accept anything to be as good as Warfarin. She's changed her mind now and says that Apixaban is the best.

I believe a very slightly better risk of intercranial bleeds. Jean.

I also thought Aphixaban was the superior NOAC. However, this recent study suggests Edoxaban may be.

I did notice that three of the researchers of that study worked for Daiichi, the manufacturers of Edoxaban. Having said that I don't think Apixaban is superior. There were problems with the main Apixaban trial, Aristotle, which, of course was funded by the manufacturer: cardiobrief.org/2011/09/23/...

Good catch and good points, Mark. I sometimes wonder about a lot of these trials, as well as even medication guidelines. Influence of the drug industry is heavy.

I've just been moved from Apixaban to Edoxaban purely due to costs by my doctor's but I myself have noticed no difference

I was put on Apixaban but I started to lose the hair on the top of my head and my legs and I got itchy blisters on the soles of my feet. Three weeks on Edoxaban and it all seems to be improving.

I've recently been changed from edoxaban to apixaban. The only reason I was given is due to the interaction with dronedarone. Apixaban needs to be reduced alongside dronedarone whereas apixaban doesn't.

No problem at all..Also worth saying I've had no problems at all with the switch and I'm generally pretty meds sensitive.

If the tablets that you take aren't causing problems stay on them .if you do have any ,tell your doctor.i take apixaban (7years now)also lansoprazole for acid reflux.mo problems.
