Good hair day

I hope everyone is doing well and having a happy hair day. Following on from my post a few weeks ago about losing hair since Afib diagnosis and anticoagulants....

First thank you EVERYONE for so much positive help and advice. I have done some experimenting and am finding the following has been helpful.

1. I'm giving the scalp a gentle massage every day. I'm beginning to think the impact of poorer circulation due to persistent Afib was a factor as much as anticoagulants.

2. I'm not washing my hair more than twice a week and only using the dryer on a low heat.

3. I've got a good cylindrical hairbrush that is kind to tangles

4. When it comes to colouring I'm using "It's Pure" which is an entirely organic, herbal powder that you mix into a sloppy mud and leave on your head for an hour or so looking like a mud wrestler. The result (I use Golden Blonde) is amazing and lasting. The best part is it acts as a powerful conditioner.

5. I nick a bit of my husband's hair wax to apply minimally to the roots and add a bit of lift.

That's it for now. My hair has stopped falling/cracking off for the time being so am feeling a lot happier! Hope you're all keeping well and having plenty of good hair days too! 💕

There's a whole lot of wonderful advice on hair from half the women here on AF Forum - check out the initial question I posted! 😊

My wife is loosing hair because of medication and never uses a hair dryer - hasn't done for years. Glad you are finding something to help you. If it is really bad you can get some quite expensive stuff to help you or even something on prescription. Hope what you do works.

What is the expensive stuff? And what can you get on prescription please? I have spent a fortune on so many products, but willing to try anything.

You may want to explore a previous post that was packed with advice. Check out on my profile under posts. 😊

I did actually add to the previous post. I have just looked through it again and there is nothing that I either haven’t tried or can see working for me.

I have so many intolerances, including the fillers in tablets, which also includes vitamins and supplements . I avoid them all.

I was just interested to see what Desanthony was referring to in case there is something that I am unaware of.

Oh Gosh! My wife can't remember now. Shall have to wander around Boots when we are in town tomorrow and see if that will jog the memory! You know she says she can see one particular product - cost about £60.00 for a small bottle and it was either a green bottle or the product was green but can't remember the name now - great help eh?. There was also a shampooo and conditioner and tonic her hair dresser suggested called Nioxin - she used Number 4 for fine hair of which she used to have loads - hairdressers used to complain about how long it would take to cut her hair believe it or not. she also worked with someone who really was losing their hair at a younger age and they had something from the GP.

I m so glad it's working I followed the advice of the person who recommended Philip Kingsley shampoo. It's not cheap but is lovely. It's very light I have curly hair , all the products for curly hair are too heavy this stuff is lovely. I'm glad you're getting there, hair is so important to how you feel I think. I'm interested in the organic colouring as well.

Brilliant! I started massaging my scalp with oil after your last thread. And recently discovered the joys of a thermoceramic brush for giving the hair a lift. Treated myself to an expensive haircut in London and asked the hairdresser which brush to buy. These thermocermaics are really nice and light - they don't drag on the hair at all - and when you use the dryer, the warm.air passes through the cylinder in the middle so you don't have to hold the dryer below and above . Give a great lift too even on a medium heat...
