Cancelled Again

Well here I go again, another cancellation, another wait.

I have continual AF for just coming up to two years. I’m on 10mg of Bisoprolol and 62.5 digoxin, plus Apixaban. First appointment with Cardio, told to lose weight and get on with it, no medication, oh ok.

Went to GP who gave medication and referred me to a different Cardio, was just about to see them, got a phone call, staff sick appointment cancelled, 6 months later another appointment, woo hoo, cancelled Doctor Strike, new appointment, yippee, cancelled Doctor Strike.

Hey hoo, I wonder if I’ll ever get seen. Well, I’ll keep losing weight and keep doing very short huffing and puffing walks, I’ll get there.

I’m a very positive person, luckily nothing gets me down, this is just another blip and a real nuisance, but at least I get to open my eyes each morning phew.

Hope everyone had a super Easter, stay safe.

Nevertheless still damn frustrating. Keep at the walks, something different to see every day.

Hi Carnationmac, sorry to hear you've been stuck waiting so long. It sounds like you've got a wonderfully positive mindset, but it must be beyond frustrating to have yet another cancellation! I also have persistent AFib and have to admit I recently paid for a private consultation with an EP cardiologist - cost around £300, wait around 3 weeks, appointment time 45 minutes so plenty time to discuss options. Good links to NHS. All those years of paying my national insurance and it comes to this!! But its not my fault the government has run the NHS into the ground and turns its back on junior doctors who've taken such huge wage cuts in recent years. I just don't want to be huffing and puffing up the stairs any more and decided time to put myself first! Good luck and hope you soon get help. Keep on with the healthy diet!

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, I try to keep as positive as possible. Hopefully my next appointment won’t take long in coming through and again hopefully it’s not cancelled. 😊

Hi Carnationmac

I am so sorry to hear what issues you’re up against with your appointments. I second what Rainfern has said above and you might be best placed to try and see a private EP cardiologist, if you can push to it, rather than a Cardiologist, as they are in a better position to advise on options including a possible ablation. They can also put you on the NHS waiting list. They may also not cost £300 and could be more towards £200 ( I paid this last year). A list of EPs are easy to find in your area/hospital via Google and there’s often a secretary you can call and often you can see them within 2 weeks.

Good luck,

Teresa

Hi Thanks for your reply. If I have problems with the next appointment I’ll certainly consider private. 😊

go private is the best option. Don’t wait too long.
