Hi,

My surgery advised my wife and I automatically that we were due and entitled to it. She has had hers, I am down for mine on the morning of 22 April. Her surname was a C mine is an L.

I had a similar conversation with an EP just 4 days ago. My Afib started within days of my booster jab last year. OK, so this is the advise of my EP. The sober facts are one in 20 people hospitalised with covid have suffered new onset Afib. Covid causes high levels of inflammation that can trigger AF. It's estimated one in 20,000 - 25,000 cases of new onset Afib is associated with the vaccine. Plus we need to take account of the fact that people with pre existing Afib are more susceptible to infection. So I know what I'll choose when we're offered a jab for 70 year old.

Hello again Rainfern. My question would be if 1 in 20 people hospitalised with Covid are newly diagnosed with AFib, how do we know how many of those had it undiagnosed before? Statistically, we know most people with AFib are also those most likely to be hospitalised with Covid. Which is chicken and which is egg? To clarify, I speak as someone who believes my AFib WAS caused by Covid. But I wonder if, given we now know you can still catch Covid after vaccination, the booster is not just adding to that risk of inflammation?

Hi Silky, I wish I had answers! It's such a conundrum. I agree the statistics are pretty vague and the chicken egg issue too... So we're left with personal choice based on dodgy figures and anecdote! Wishing you health whatever route you choose!

I would never advise anyone on what to do in this situation, but can tell you that I wont be having any more covid jabs.

I had all the covid vaccines, also the flu and pneumonia one. Guess what in the following year (last year) I had all of those three things, before that I'd had years without having so much as a cold. All the vaccines made me feel unwell and my heart play up. I never wanted any of them right from the start, but felt compelled by the government with their fear promoting daily talks. My first few covid jabs were Astra Zeneca ones, why aren't they being used anymore? My daughter knew a young lad who died the day after having the AZ jab, it wasn't reported anywhere. I thought it would have at least been reported in our local paper or on the news.

Everyone must decide for themselves what to do, it's your body and what you decide will be right for you.

Hi Bob, I am disappointed that at 74 I don't qualify for a spring booster , I would have one like a shot even though I had a reaction to the second booster.

My brother who is older than me and has asymptomatic AF had Covid recently. After shielding for 2 years he let his guard down and the booster he had in September could have been wearing off. He recovered after 3 weeks and tested negative for Covid .

A few weeks late he started to feel ill and couldn't breath, he went to A&E his lungs were filling with fluid. The hospital said had he delayed going to hospital he would have died. This illness has been attributed to the episode of Covid , a form of long Covid . He is home now and recovering slowly .

Covid hasn't gone away just not being reported and I will have boosters as long as they are offered.

A mild case of Covid messed up my lungs for months. So I will have it if offered.

I have been trying to decide too, but on balance at my age, I probably will. I know there have been side effects and heart issues after the vaccs but far less than the percentages after a covid infection. For us oldies the risk /benefit is still reasonable for a jab. With younger people I am less sure now.

I think I will have it. Listened to a virologist today and as I am 78, it seems advisable

Thankyou all for your comments. Keep well

These days it seems to be about what you read and believe not necessarily in the Press or shouted out by governments. I have followed the subject with interest from the start and free choice is the most important principal that was at risk and in some places around the world still is. My mind is made up about 'the vaccine' and I have also taken other supplements and precautions.

I have never had any reactions to the vaccines. Got Covid last October, and wasn’t particularly ill. Though two weeks later, I had an A Fib episode that I never came out of. I’m fairly convinced that it speeded the progression, yet I will never know. (I caught it the week that my booster would have been due, so it was 11 months after the previous one.)
