My recent tales of high potassium and creatinine are unraveling .The C. and the Pot. are causing Afib. although increasing my Bisoprolol again by a smidgin has helped quieten down the Afib. GP.
has not yet come up with any ideas as to way forward .I suspect he is expecting the Pot. and Creatinine to stay high as I am now 84. and so who cares?I on the other hand I want to do as much as I can to keep healthy .I am adjusting my diet,no ideas from GP. but I have been reading about this and have cut out some suspicious potassium cultprits from my diet.Wondering if a private kidney specialist might be worth a visit? I am also going to ring my cardiologists nurse to discuss the situation with her.She has been in the loop so may have ideas. All ideas from my friends here would be more than welcome.

Please see a kidney specialist as he /she should have the most knowledge and be able to give you the best advice regarding your problem. Age should be no barrier to getting the best advice. Best, etheral
Well done, keep up your investigations! One caveat I would add when seeing individual organ specialists, remember they usually are so focussed on their individual silo of knowledge they may well overlook the holistic nature of the body ie improving the kidney may have a negative knock on effect elsewhere.
As a Libran I am increasingly accepting that we have to accept a balance, no one area will be perfect but overall make sure no areas are critical.
Please contact Cardiology. The heart can affect kidney function so they should have some idea as to whether you need further investigations to see if there is a cardiac connection in your case. I agree that seeing a kidney specialist may also be worthwhile as you need your kidney function properly assessed with more extensive testing than just the GP’s routine U&E blood tests. Also agree, age should be no barrier to health care and you are still entitled to good healthcare.
I saw the GP today and he is asking for a kidney scan, he said within 2/3 weeks. He is also going to contact my cardiologist to be seen before July 4th when i am due an annual review. My heart rate was up today and that scared him a bit!I am also doing a urine test,to be done first thing in the morning, so a bit of pressure from me has moved things along a bit. Also stopping Furosimide on GP advice as that can affect kidney function.I will call the cardiologist nurse on Monday to put her in the loop. which may mean the cardio. calls me in before GP writes. Many thanks for your support.Very much appreciated.
My friend is the grand old age of 89 and he still gets treated really well by his GP, so, do press for better if you feel you are being less well treated. I suspect GPs are under such pressure these days that it's easy to think they are being brusque or whatever when they are simply in a rush.
I would definitely be wanting answers to high K++ and creatinine levels, myself, so £200 to a private renal specialist might be one way forwards?
