I’m going in once again for another ablation. The 3rd one finally finished off the afib. But they couldn’t trigger the atrial tachycardia. Since it’s become even more frequent since the last ablation, I decided to give it another go. Dreading it even more than normal since our local hospital has stopped requiring Covid tests and dropped mask requirements. The patient in the next bed could have Covid. 😡 I’ve asked for a private room, since I have autoimmune conditions. Ughhh… I’ll be masking!
And there another big snow storm coming our way (I’m in the US). Hope my husband can get tot the hospital on Tuesday to get me home! Think they’d release me to an Uber driver? 😂
One final note, just came across this excellent overview of arrhythmias and treatments by an Australian EP :Why is my heart out of rhythm?: A guide to heart rhythm problems for patients and carers by Gareth Wynn (Author) Apparently he wanted to make it free, but Amazon made him charge 99cents. amzn.to/3LclrMB

thank you! Weather is already snowy. But fine for getting to the hospital. Might end up having to stay an extra day in the hospital if the weather does what’s predicted. ❄️
I’m going in for my fifth ablation: three for atypical atrial flutter (tachycardia on the left side) and two for Afib. One of those, my poor wife had to drive home in a snowstorm in Albuquerque, NM. You’re going to be fine! Wear a mask yourself and realize most of your time there will be in very clean conditions.
Oh my, 5! What were the outcomes? And when do you go for your 5th? Sorry you’ve been through the mill too! Hope #5 resolves things. I have cousins who lived in Albuquerque, they moved to Phoenix a few years ago because they were tired of winter. For someone from the northeast, I always forget that parts of NM do get a lot of snow! ❄️ we’re about to get a classic nor’easter. 36 hours of steady snow, with about a foot predicted for my area.
I remember nor’easter’s 😱 and I don’t miss them lol. My last winter was up in western New York where I left 17 feet of snow the first week of February. I am originally from Boston. Stay safe and have your emergency supplies. You will be fine. Best of luck on your procedure.
just saw this earlier comment. Western NY has some horrible weather doesn’t it. I went to college in Buffalo, crazy crazy weather, but not as nuts as that giant storm a few years ago, which must be the winter you’re remembering? Albany area isn’t as bad. We never win the statewide “snowball “ award! Thank goodness!
I think every winter is bad lol no, I have been gone from there 20+ years now. The last week I was there I hit black ice and landed in a farm field because they don’t salt or sand. Beautiful area. If you can stay inside and just look out the window lol here in Texas I have the beauty without the snow knock wood 🙏🏻 I hope that doesn’t change.
I was in a cute little village called Silver Springs. Population 800 and some thing but I think most of that was cows ha ha. Coming from Boston living there was quite a change. Stay safe where you are. I’m glad you got home. OK. I’m going to follow you and see what your next adventure will be. I hope it happens soon so you feel better. I just had a couple of rough days but now I found out it’s normal what I’m feeling. Thinking of you we are family here.
ironic that they didn’t salt the roads in Silver Springs. Just checked the map to see where it was and the Morton Salt plant popped up as a local landmark. Boston to silver spring would be culture shock. Well, Boston to anywhere in western NY would be culture shock. 😂 I love warm weather, but sure couldn’t take Texas weather. It’s a lovely snowy fairyland here right now.
Glad you got your pacemaker stuff sorted out, and are feeling better! Such amazing technology really!
lol yes Morton was just down the road from us. My former in-laws owned the land the dam was built on in Letchworth State Park and then some. Pretty area. They were in Dansville.
Just read your bio. Answered my question about your ablation outcomes, yikes, you’ve had a rough ride. Hope #5 does the trick. Did you get to see the northern lights? Norway is on my long list of places to visit.
Outcomes were good each time … as long as they lasted! Sometimes up to a year but the nerves like to regenerate and so eventually I’m bracing myself for a pace & ablate (the ‘nuclear option’ as my NP puts it). Lovelace Heart Hospital has some talented EPs so I’m in good hands whenever it happens. Yes ABQ has winter! We are at a mile high elevation so it does get cold.
I’ve pondered pace&ablate too. I’m not there yet, but others have had great outcomes with it, so definitely an option to consider. Hope #5 takes care of it for you and you don’t need that option!
Wishing you good results Lovetogarden. I wouldn't worry about the Covid issue, concentrate instead on the good result and meditate that your "deflector shields" will fend off any viral or bacterial stiff present in the hospital. Suggest 500IU Vitamin "D" and some zinc to boost your immune sstem. Take it daily.
I take this heart formula. I feel it really helps.

Its main ingredient, arjuna, is one of Ayurveda's most popular herbs for heart health and has been used as an all-around heart tonic for hundreds of years. It is said to impart courage and strengthen the will while encouraging us to follow our hearts.*
lol! I would have done that if needed. They released me without an overnight, no ablation in the end. Just a 3 hour EP study. Found the source of the tachycardia, but the phrenic nerve ran right through it, would have done damage. 😢
I am sorry to hear that. I know it’s very difficult to map. My leads to my new pacemaker cannot be off even a millimeter according to my doctor, which is why it is very important to follow instructions so as to not mar them in any way. The thought of having to have this done again is not appealing.
I’m glad you got to go home OK although I feel disappointed for you. It reminds me of my cardioversion not working and being sent home when I thought I would be there five days. I was just reading about the phrenic nerve. Since I had my aggressive surgery last April, I have had bouts of hiccups numerous times each day for no rhyme or reason that usually causes hiccups. My carotid artery was one of the areas used. I wonder if something may have been nicked. Evidently the phrenic nerve is where hiccups come from. I had also had surgery on my C three through six, on both sides about 10 years ago following a serious accident. Interesting and I wonder if anything can be done to stop them now
Please let us know how are you are doing and what may be the next possibility.
Difficulty in mapping was one of the reasons my doctor did not want to attempt another ablation. Thanking of you.
