I know it is early days but I have had intense aches/pains at left of back , probably around the area the heart is in.Do you think this just the heart healing.

Hi I had a cryo ablation last September. I don't recall having any of the symptoms you describe. I remember being explained to me there are a couple of nerves directly behind the heart near one of the freeze sites that can be affected. I was given Omeprazole actavis to be taken half hour before a meal. I took these for a month following the procedure. I think it was to stop gastric reflux, associated with one of the at risk nerves. Maybe you are getting gastric reflux (commonly called heart burn).

If in any doubt get it checked out, even if it is your regular Dr.

Regards Blake

Thanks I don't think it's that .The nerve you're thinking about could be the vagus nerve. I get gastric reflux from my hiatus hernia & take Omeprazole twice daily. Probably been like this for a 3 days now.I'd have thought it would have started earlier if that was it.

That doesn't sound right katx if you are getting pain. I think I would dial the UK NHS 111 telephone line. I didn't have any pain after my three ablations. Jean

Thanks Jean,I don't think it warrants that. Not urgent. It is a very intense ache not sharp. A bit like the pain with a chest or lung infection but no flem or cough.I may contact Gp or Arrhythmia nurses Monday.

Just thought it might just be the heart healing and I suppose looking for that reassurance.

Any chest pain should always be checked out. You shouldn't be getting pain so long after an ablation. It sounds like you may have an infection and a course of antibiotics could clear that. Even worse it could be a type of heart attack. They can present just as you describe - as an intense ache! A blood test and an ECG are needed. Please seek medical advice asap. Jean

Thankyou for your advice as always.I didn't think 2 1/2 weeks was a long time.It isn't angina like pain .The problem is getting through to the GP never mind seeing a doctor or nurse and then probably say go to A& E. I suspect Arrhythmia nurses will say see GP.I will try tomorrow.

I agree with Jeanne. Seek medical advice.

kkatz, I had exactly the same symptoms after my first ablation. It almost felt like I strained my back. It's most likely the healing process.

I think you should call your doctor and be seen ASAP.

Hi Kkatz. How are you feeling this morning (its evening here in New Zealand). I hope you are feeling better.

Best wishes

Had a lot of bumps after my ablation but not that. Perhaps worth checking it out. It may be nothing but if it is something it might get worse. X

You might have picked up an infection. Can you check your oxygen levels? Ask your GP to do this tomorrow if you can't do it. Do you feel breathless at all? I agree with Jean that you should be checked out.

Yes spO2 ok .Bp ok & still in NSR.maybe a little breathless this morning & a bit of flutter with tickly cough when lying down to sleep last night.

It just possible it might be acid reflux and heartburn but the breathlessness worries me.

Don't think it is acid reflux.I have at least 10 years of experiencing this in all it's various forms. And it is left & back ,nothing at front. It could purely be down to being a couch potato with central heating on.Just ready for walks & treacherous underfoot. Will try a walk later today

Hi Katz - I agree it's always best to get these things checked out. The time I had intense pain in left back, heart area, was worrying and painful and it kept me awake a few nights. The GP called me back to say I needed an immediate ECG and must call an ambulance, which I felt embarrassed to do but he was insistent. Fortunately the ambulance medic had previously worked as a physiotherapist and was able to explain how the problem resided deep in my rhomboid muscle! I wasn't post ablation, but post carting a suitcase and sitting for hours on an uncomfortable train seat! Sometimes surgical procedures can leave us a bit walloped around in areas we don't expect! Get it checked though!

Lordy, please get that checked out. I'm going in for my Radiofrequency ablation tomorrow and am absolutely terrified but am trying to console myself ever so sightly knowing that some folks have had this procedure more than once.....so it can't be THAT bad.......can it?? Do get that pain checked out though, I know I would but then I'm climbing the walls at the moment!!

stay well all

I had cryo ablation and seriously don't worry. As I have said in previous post I would rather have an ablation than dental procedure.

Do let us know how you get on! The only unexpected thing for me was fluid retention, but I looked it up and it does happen due to the procedure. I had leapt on the scales thinking that I would have lost weight - and had gained half a stone!

I'm scared of the dentist too.....awful experience who I was a kid!! Thanks for the reassurance though! :-)

Have you contacted your doctor? It is common to have some aches inside, but also you could have pericarditis. Depending on how painful I would give it a little bit longer but then contact your doctor. There is a medication I end up on each time it’s just one pill a day for 30 days. Pericarditis is an inflammation some of us of more sensitive to being worked on. Give your doctor a call.
