Without an ekg, no way of knowing what the "burst" is. Could be afib, could be something else. If you want to know, get a Kardia 6L or Apple Watch and record an ekg while it happens. That said, if you can get a good pulse at the wrist or neck, see if your pulse feels regular or irregular. Afib is irregular although so is normal rhythm with ectopics and may be hard to tell the difference without experience.

PS You can delete or edit a question or reply by going to the "More" button pull down menu.

Has anyone suggested you look at Autonomic dysfunctions such as PoTS - Postural Ortostatic Tachycardia Syndrone? Or Low BP? You may find information on AA STARS site useful:-

Keep a diary as to when it happens and what exactly eg after a meal, empty stomach, when v tired, getting up v slowly or quick etc etc. Any different feelings. Once sufficient info talk to your cardiologist.

Yes - and I think it is the physical pulling at the heart that causes it to "miss" a beat (i.e. to have an ectopic beat), which can trigger AF - or, indeed, feel like AF. I can get the same on occasion from stretching high and kneeling low, both of which also push the stomach into the diaphragm and then against the base of the heart. I saw this on an X-ray once and have read a few reports of it.

it sometimes is overwhelming that there are so many triggers !! Mentally hard like a battle but I’m getting better at just trying to ignore the short episodes I have for not more then a few hrs .I have had P. AF for about 6 yrs now . Feel grateful it hasn’t progressed but it’s such a drain sometimes .thanks

I agree! But I have myself come to doubt there are so many individual triggers - more likely the one of the slight “stretching” of the heart and setting off ectopic beats. In a study I read not many people could truly identify triggers aside from, mainly, if I recall, lying down and eating.
