Black and blue from electronic event recorder.

Since my ablation at Cleveland Clinic in early December, I'm to use a Model 1000 Cardiac Event Recorder that takes an electrocardiogram that I phone in to my EP once a week (or in the case of an event). I simply place it against my bare chest and press "event." Last time, the arrythmia nurse told me to press it harder against my chest as it wasn't reading correctly. I did, the reading went through well enough, but two days later I developed a lump under a perfectly round black and blue mark. I messaged my EP and the nurse messaged back saying she never heard of such a thing happening and I should have it looked at at my local Express Care. Well I didn't, as it didn't hurt. I'm prone to bruising from taking Xarelto (an anticoagulant). I assume this was the cause, but wonder if anyone else experienced this from using a cardiac device pressed against their chest for readings.

We all bruise at differently levels. I have been on anticoagulant (warfarin) for 19 years and seldom see a bruise yet my wife who is not on anything at all looks like she's done ten rounds with Mike Tyson if she gets too close to a doorway. I dont think anticoagulants should make any difference to most people but if you are one like my wife it may well.

That's kind of my take on it. Thanks for responding, Bob.

Yes, I was bruised from a similar device. I was using it as part of a trial and it was like a plastic boomerang and very uncomfortable. It was given to me after the trial and now sits, unused, in a cupboard. I offered it to my GP Surgery who didn't want it.

Thanks for replying. I figured my bruise was caused from pressing the device too hard on my chest. Those anticoagulants are really something -- my cat leaves me bleeding from the tiniest wound.
