Have people traveled? Been reluctant long distat.fearful.Would a pacemaker relieve fears?Any experiences?

I think it all depends on how much you allow your condition to dictate your life. I've been in AF in the paddock at Monza, Spa, Silverstone and several welsh valleys whilst working on race and rallt cars. I isn't going to kill you after all.

Hi Quilter. Don't let it dictate your life - you're in charge, not afib. I'm flying next week as it happens. Afib won't get in my way - I tell it how I will live my life, not vice versa. Learn to live by these words - they should be your mantra.

Thx .I have let it.Before pandemic stopped going far away like I used to. Felt on eggshells.Need to get over it before too late.

It's never to late Quilter. Nip it in the bud starting right now - the first time will be the hardest then it will get easier and easier. Take baby steps one day at a time. Don't rush things and you WILL get there. Who's the strongest - you or afib?

Quilter, I so identify with what you're saying. I had loads of trauma as a child and a youth and tend to be someone with lots of fear in general. But I don't want to let my afib run (ruin!) my life. I am too young and want to do too many things to allow this condition to dictate too many of my choices and make this condition worse. I live in United States, and I plan to travel to Europe in late June. I am going! We'll all tackle this together!

Not young anymore but somehow fear grabbed me..don't let it..I am going to travel this year no matter what..a promise to myself..no one really understands this condition as its not seen from outside.

i had an ablation september of 2022, before the ablation i was getting afib every week or two, the episodes would last approx 18 hour. I love to travel i am 62 and pretty healthy , i went to machu pichu ( i took the bus not hiked) in april and then in july i went to pamplona to run with the bulls. i was worried about the ablation i knew i needed, so i was more afraid of not being able to do things i always wanted to do. I have not stopped traveling and enjoying trying to enjoy life ... i was getting afib very randomly so i would have my flecainide and atenolol with me....and kept going, i had one episode of afib 2 weeks after my ablation 4 months ago and not any since. I have been taking the magnesium taurate and noticed when i didnt i would start with eptopics so it looks like at my 6 months i will be off my atenonol and just be taking the magnesium and a baby aspirin. and by all means do what you love to do.....and live life.

I found this site by random and so glad I did. Thank you. I have been so fearful and lost out on so much of life several years before the pandemic. I traveled but not the way I did in the past to faraway places. I am determined to overcome it this year. I am going to get that magnesium taurate . I need to start to live life. I have had two ablations which worked for a while and afib returns. It is not a cure for sure. I am on a blood thinner plus atenolol . Also considering a pacemaker for pauses as I worry constantly. No way to live.
