Can’t believe it!

We’ll, as if 1 failed pacemaker insertion, 2 ablations , a small stroke and 3 other immediate family members hospitalised for various reasons, and then a horrid covid infection, isn’t enough for 1 year!

I was recovering from covid after 10 long horrible days. I had a cough but it was loose and nothing alarming when Wham Bam Shazam! I put my foot in my hairbrush basket which of course should not have been on the floor and spun backwards onto the corner of my wooden bed frame. I now have broken ribs and that is hell with the covid cough but because I have been trying not to cough and everything is static in the lungs, I now have a secondary lung infection and a stash of antibiotics. If this year has anything else bad round the corner I don’t want to know 😖

Big plus though is that I still have no AF and really it has had every chance to make a return. Keep everything crossed folks.

Best wishes

Jane

I hope everyone else who had covid with me, are making good recoveries.

Gallbladder removal, flu, two small skin cancers cut from back, Covid & pneumonia together which set my heart off playing up. Next year has to be better, hope yours will be too. Don't like the sound of your broken ribs, very painful I guess!

That is really rotten luck. I’ve been moaning about my year, but it’s definitely not as bad.

Thanks for all your commiserations and good wishes. All really appreciated. As I can tell from some of the comments, this year has been a dud for quite a few. Jean , you have had a rotten year too. and I really hope some better times are on the way.

I am just holding on to the fact that my AF, flutter :tachycardia are all staying away. In their place I had been feeling lots of ectopics but interestingly , since my broken ribs etc I haven't felt them. Is that because my mind is taken up with rib pain or could it be that high strength co codamol with its opioid element, is keeping me calmer. Either way, it’s an interesting thought isn’t it? I’m going to start reducing the pain relief when the cough starts to get better so I may know the answer then.

Anyway, once again, thanks to you all in this wonderful group and here’s to a better 2023.

oh Jane! It all seems to come at once sometimes .... Sorry to read the latest trials.

When my hubby broke several ribs and had flu coughing ( not the same as covid but similar) he was advised to try to cough using stomach muscles ie pushing up.from diaphragm. Hard to describe but it did help. That and drink gallons of water which thins the mucus.

thinking of you!

Ahhh……commiserations. Broken ribs are very painful. Hope you recover soon.

I would say big hugs but they would hurt - but cyber hugs more appropriate?

Definitely a case of cyber hugs trumping real hugs at the moment 😂

So sorry to hear this, as if broken ribs on their own aren't bad enough. Take great care.

That is really rotten luck. I came off our motorbike and slid several feet on the tarmac on my front. Luckily I did not break any ribs but they were severely bruised and it hurt just breathing. The A&E doc warned me that I had to take enough painkillers to be able to breathe normally or I risked getting pneumonia. Hope you start to feel better soon. NAC - N acetyl cysteine - works well for chesty coughs. It makes the mucous more fluid. Raw garlic does too but you have to chew the cloves which is difficult!
