How lovely. I'm envious, have a great time. Are you walking it on your own, or with a group?
on my own for now, maybe brother in law
Did part of the CW as part of a walking hol in the Lakes last autumn. There are lots of lovely flat and nearly-flat walks around Derwentwater which would seem good for anyone with AF who is fit enough to do reasonably long walks. I don't find it too much of a pain not being able to do ascents any more. Even when I was fit enough to "bag" Munros, I still preferred looking up at mountains rather than down FROM them! Enjoy!
Good fr you! Enjoy
A suggestion: stick to doing 75% of what you are capable of and when going uphill take twice as many rests as you would normally need. Enjoy!
My son did that the hard way a few years ago. By 'the hard way' I mean he was wild camping solo, and carrying all his gear with resupply visits from my wife and I at two day intervals. He walked from Ulverston towards Carlisle, but gave up with a back injury once he reached the farming lowlands in the northern section. He loved the highlands of Cumbria, but found the area towards Carlisle very boring.
I did the full Cumbria Way route - south to north - in mid April this year with three friends - staying in pubs etc. but carrying all necessary gear. It’s an excellent route and for the most part not too strenuous - if you’re feeling OK I’d do all the sections- the Keswick to Caldbeck day has a more remote feel- and the last day to Carlisle (although out of the hills) is still very pleasant. At the risk of stating the obvious - and not knowing how experienced you are - make sure you take suitable extra precautions if on your own and with health conditions. I bought an emergency satellite locator beacon when I did the Cape Wrath Trail on my own last year as there are huge sections without mobile phone coverage and you still get blind spots in the Lakes as well 😀
Aint had af episode since diagnosis in May 20, controlled with bisoprolol, provided I take it slow I'm ok, the bisoprplol does limit the top end which is a good restraint anyway.
Surprised even a locator would find you in top of Scotland lol, been as far as Ullapool to do An Teallach best day ever but alas maybe a step too far now
ive heard its lovely and very undiscovered xx
good on ya mate, have a nice time and take care.👍
