I have AF and take 60mg of Edoxaban and Bisoprolol (10mg) daily. Am due to have tooth out mid September and wondering how others have managed with taking the Edoxaban and tooth extraction/bleeding. Plan to talk to my dentist beforehand but has anyone experience of tooth extraction whilst on anticoagulants? I am sure it happens, just nervous and any pointers to manage this most welcome.

Had a tooth extraction last week. I am on Edoxaban and the dentist asked me to not take the normal dose for that day. Everything went well no excessive bleeding.
Thank you - that puts my mind at rest. My GP nurse was a bit nervous about it when I spoke to her and that raised my anxiety. I trust my dentist so will speak to them in advance and hope all goes well. Thank you.
Had a wisdom tooth extracted and just didn't take the morning dose of Apixaban on the day of the procedure. Restarted it in the evening. I had no excessive bleeding either. British Dental Association guidance for anticoagulation is on their website
I had a tooth out late last year and I'm on Rivaroxaban. The dentist told me to continue to take it. I may not be typical as I used to bleed like a stuck pig before starting Rivaroxaban, and it is now the complete opposite. With the extraction I literally did not see a single drop of blood.
I was due to have a surgical extraction of dangerous roots, asked dentist about stopping Apixaban but he said they had ways of preventing excessive bleeding so not to stop. Unfortunately I did have some very bad bleeding which I managed to stop my self but when I told my GP about it she was quite annoyed and said I should have been told to stop. So I’d go by that in future.
Key recommendations in the BDA guidelines say that for a simple extraction with a low risk of bleeding then don't stop anticoagulation. For procedures with a high risk of bleeding, and it sounds like surgical extraction is one of them, then you should stop anticoagulation. Sounds like some dentists aren't aware of their own guidelines!
