Morning,

a friend has suggested trying an electrolyte supplement, like those used in the fasting communities. Any one have any opinions or ideas about this? šŸ˜Š

Like many things to much is as bad as to little, taking supplements if you donā€™t need them can upset the natural balance.

Yep. I am also looking at them for pain relief ā€¦..as recommended by a friend. I know stuff is out of synch in my body and it just needs a kick start. Diet is good, mostly šŸ¤Ŗ

HiHave your B12 and Folate Acid checked. Not in the everyday blood test. Depending on age I'm 73 I should be between 400-500.

I take 1 nugget under tongue two days running to ingest it into blood stream Gold Cap Solgar from health shops. No injections for me.

My daughter who is very health concussion told me to take coconut water in this hot weather. It is suppose to help with electrolytes as it stays in your system longer than just water. You do not need much. I take half cup. I feel it really helps but everyone is different.

Another vote for Coconut water - as long as itā€™s pure Coconut water and not a ā€˜drinkā€™ - from me + half a banana/day.

Hi Tilly,

Iā€™ve been experimenting for a while with electrolytes and have had some success.

My AF episodes are normally preceded by runs of ectopic beats and so, if I have an electrolyte drink whilst the ectopics are going on, that stops them and prevents the AF kicking off. Iā€™ve experimented with a few different ones but, for me, Dioralyte works best in that situation. It gets absorbed quickly and knocks them on the head within about 15 mins.

If an episode has already started and got itself established then that technique doesnā€™t work, so then itā€™s onto the big guns which, for me, is a magnesium complex by Nutri called MegaMag muscleze. It was something I used to take a long time ago but stopped and forgot about but was reminded of it when reading a post on here a few months back.

Out of the three times Iā€™ve tried it whilst in AF, Iā€™ve converted back to NSR within 20 mins twice. The third time was a couple of hours later, so I canā€™t honestly say the MegaMag was responsible that time. Iā€™m now taking it daily to see how it works as a preventative measure.

I know others respond well to coconut water with its high potassium content, so it might be worth trying that first as a natural way to up your electrolytes. Unfortunately for me, I donā€™t tolerate coconut in any form, so thatā€™s out.

Sorry for the long reply to a short questionšŸ˜Š

HiYou can make your own.

Water, a few grains salt and glucose to taste. I would put sqeeze lemon or orange in it. You will love it. It replaces loss through perspiration

You don't want the one in suck plastic bottles. They have lots of caffeine.

Any sporting persons need nourishment and the top recommends milk rather than water. Look at the goodness in milk drinks, shakes, smoothies have yoghurt, milk thicks, milky cocoa.

I get tablets, Iā€™m T2 diabetic, so have to watch fruit juices, glucose and sugars

I find that an extra 500mg of magnesium taken during the pre-AF ectopic stage or just after the AF has started proper can really help bring the AF event to an early end.

What bantam12 said, AND, electrolyte replacements can send you into afib in a hurryā€¦.trust me on this one. I do a lot of cycling, and used to ward of heat exhaustion by drinking pro non-caffeinated electrolyte replacement drinksā€¦it will ramp up your heart rate if you over drink, so be careful.Your body is pretty good at balancing, so if you sweat profusely, yes, you need to replace the ā€œsaltā€ but otherwise not needed. Water will suffice.

As always, consult a medical professional.

I take a 500 ml sports drink that I make up myself from fine ground porridge oats and egg white powder or Ucan super starch sport drink. (it's digested in the small intestine, not the stomach) Or 250 ml of Pineapple and Morello Cherry juice. Either drink stops an episode of SVT in it's tracks. A bowl of Porridge made with water with blueberries usually prevents the attack from ever starting.

All the best.

I take a fizzy tablet in my water occasionally especially when itā€™s hot.

Iā€™m a T2 diabetic for my sins now also, so need to make sure Iā€™m hydrated, hence an electrolyte fizzy tablet in water in this heat.
