Taking Flecainide even when in Permanent Afib

Am in permanent Afib since feb 2021 and after taking my second dose of pfizer vaccine. Am on 2X90 mg Dilzem and 2,5 mg Nebilt/day. MY HR is 70-73 BPM 38% of the time, 66-69 BPM 33% of the time, 74-79 BPM 19% of the time and 62-65 BPM 2% of the time. To improve these results , I suggested to stop Nebilet and instead take 50 mg of Flecainide ( Tambocor 50mg) in combo with dilzem. He agreed and said lets give it a try.

Did any body with permanent Afib try Flecainide? Your experience will be very helpful. Thanks

Are you working with an ep? Flecainide is a powerful drug and requires a structurally sound heart, so a stress test is often performed prior, with follow up ekg's for additional safety. Ep's are the most qualified to make these determinations, as opposed to cardiologists or gp's.

Your heart rate seems normal, so I guess the goal is to convert back to Normal sinus rhythm? As to whether the Flecainide will convert you at this point, that's a bit beyond my pay grade. Have they tried to cardiovert you? Sometimes they will start an anti-arrythmic like Flecainide prior to the cardioversion and then continue it afterwards to give it a better chance of holding.

Sorry but if you are in permanent AF then the only sensible treatment is rate control not rhythm control. There is notpoint using a drug which can't work.

Those heart rate stats are great for permanent AFib. Doubt if you will see much improvement.

Be happy with those. :)

I've been in permanent afib since March, 2021. I had previously been on flecainide for rhythm control. I'm now on digoxin for rate control and it's working well for me. I was previously very symptomatic with my afib episodes but now I only know I'm in afib if I check my pulse. Good luck to you.

Are your ep is a real one? What is in the world you need flecainide for? You are already in permanent Afib . What he is thinking to give it to you? You need to change your ep. If he were in the US the license board here could suspend his license without talking of all legal ramifications. Flecainide is a strong drug . The analogy is to give anti cancerous drugs to people without cancer.
