Good or bad drug?
Unfortunately, impossible to answer as only time will tell if it will work for you.
Hope it does and best wishes
Twice daily I take 12.5mg of Metoprolol along with Flecainide. I'm very sensitive to that drug and once collapsed in hospital when they gave me 100mg in a one dose in an effort to bring my heart rate down. My AF nurse said it could have killed me, so I would never take more than 25mg now, which is half of a 50mg pill. However, we are all very different. Why do you think not taking it would reduce the swelling in your legs, has a doctor said that?
I really hope that reducing Metoprolol works for you.

Others listed swelling among many other side affects of this drug' it got me worried; thank you for your input.
Hey there Ika…since being an Afiber from 2014, I’ve been on Bisoprolol (5mg) and other meds. I’m considering approaching my GP to request having a lesser daily dose of Biso , as I’m feeling really wiped out just lately, along with a little more breathless episodes.
Can I just mention that I was having quite a lot of lower leg problems (swelling, discolouration etc)…Did a bit of research and requested to my GP, that I would like to come off Warfarin, which I’d been on for some years and go onto Apixaban, which I did a few months ago. The appearance of my legs has absolutely drastically improved. I’m convinced the change over has done the trick.
Every “body” is different and you should seek medical advice or supervision to stop Medications in saying that I have very slowly reduced my Metoprolol down to 12.5mg as it was very limiting for and active person. Made me dizzy and slow, and I am trying to wean myself further if the ticker will permit and remain steady… I once accidentally took two tablets as I thought they were flecanaide in my AF delirium and that nearly killed me! I went pale and passed out on the bathroom floor. It’s a powerful medication indeed so listen to your “body” and educate yourself about side effects. It only took me three years to figure out my insomnia was caused by taking the Medications late at night! Now I take them at dinner and get to sleep through the night…
Time… it takes time… I am on 12.5mg as well
