Is anyone awake ? Advice please !

I usually take 5mgs of Bisoprolol morning and evening, plus Warfarin with the evening dose. I have just realised, at 10.15 that I forgot my evening dose. Not a problem except I have just finished a glass of wine ! I often have a glass of wine in the evening, but at least a couple of hours after my medication. What does anyone think about me carrying on and taking my drugs now ? I know tgd wine doesn’t usually have a detrimental effect, but tonight it would actually still be in my stomach at the same time as my drugs ! Any opinions out there please ?

Annie.

Take them and relax. If wine doesn't affect your AF it isn't going to create a problem .

Thanks so much for responding so promptly ! I was worried that it might have more of a reaction as there will still be wine in my stomach, but I guess it would be more detrimental to not take the dose. Thanks Bob.

Ha ha ! Yes, I know know alcohol can be taboo for some afibbers, but actually I have had long spells without and it has made no difference. We will see tonight though ! Thanks for replying.

It it doesn’t bother you then enjoy your wine. I can’t have even a mouthful of alcohol because it hits me hard with a fib. That being said, I wonder if with my pacemaker I could now have my glass of sangria without any problems. Bob, if you’re out there what do you think?

That’s reassuring Anne ! I’ll think of you when I have my wine tomorrow ! 🤭

You lucky thing, even the whiff of alcohol send my ticker into a gymnastic Olympic event. I will remain envious all evening but hope it will not affect you in anyway. Enjoy life 👍

Sorry to hear you are affected so badly. I certainly am lucky that way. I hope you are able to indulge in many other pleasant treats !

The only thing that I’ve read about having a drink with meds (mine are Metoprolol and Eliquis) is that you might feel excessively sleepy. Driving not a good idea. Cheers!

All will be fine! Many drugs develop a "steady state" in the bloodstream, and missing a dose, or taking it at a different time, has a much smaller effect than might be imagined. Alcohol is very rapidly absorbed (and removed) from the bloodstream, too.

Thank you Steve. Actually, I thought my heart rate may dip a bit low during the night, but I ended up wide awake from 2 - 4 a.m. 😂

Well, Annie, I hope that wakefulness is not a regular event as it is with me and my chronic insomnia! I, too, enjoy a glass of wine, or a G&T, and wouldn't want to be without it. My favourites are either a Medoc or a Rhone, Vive la France!!

🤣😂 Ha! Ha! I think you've let the cat out of the bag..... There's a raft of us out there who enjoy a glass of wine with no effects on our, Afib. I don't drink daily but an odd glass here and there..... Makes no difference to me. I've been known to take them with my decaf coffee in the morning too!!

The body can usually process a glass of wine in an hour. Take the pill around midnight to be extra safe.

Thanks for responding. This was last night so I did take my medication about an hour after I finished my wine. 👍
