2 1/2 weeks post PVI Cryo Ablation

Hi there i had a PVI cryo ablation on 25th April, the Dr said successful, and apart from a bit of soreness in chest for a few days and raised resting HR by about 10bpm, all seemed to be going well for nearly 2 weeks, but then i have had a few AFib episodes only lasting a max of 30 minutes but mostly about 20 mins before self converting back to NSR, where as before i could be out for up to 24 hours, I know that it can be a bumpy road even if it has been successful, I am just hoping that the shorter episodes are a good sign and they will gradually decrease and fizzle. I really hope so, anyone else had similar? Cheers Sam

Hi, yes very similar experience having had Cryoablation on 21st Apr. My EP asked me to try come off Flecainide and Bisoprolol on 5th May but after a few days off I started going in and out AF frequently over a 24hour period and my EP said if this happened to go back on them and try again in 2 weeks. I called my GP to get another prescription and he told me I had to dis cuss with EP first. Spoke to him on Tuesday and he told me not to worry but to go back no them till end June and I see him mid July to discuss next steps. At time he told me one of my pulmonary veins was very enlarged and he reckons I’ll need this done again. Anxiety has got the better of me though and I didn’t cope well with the procedure nor the couple of weeks after as suffered badly from migraines with aura. I’m on day 2 of feeling well (3 weeks since ablation) so hopefully turning a corner and other than ectopic beats last couple of days, I feel good. Starting back with some longer brisk walks 😊 Are you still on your medication?

Hi Sam!I just wrote a post asking the difference between Cryro and RF alblation- then I saw this…

I really don’t mind what my heart does as long as I’m not in and out of atrial tachycardia with SVT and heart stopping in the mix- that is pure torture!

And goes on repeatedly/ constantly over many hours…,

How do you feel when during these AF episodes?

Many people feel nothing (to my complete amazement) …..

Also wondering if you are still on medication AND we’re you sedated during the procedure?

Also (if you don’t mind) where do you live?

I had cryo ablatio August last year - brief AF (6 hrs) 3 weeks post ablation. Cardiologist insists on me staying on meds bisoprolol 5mg and the rest! - despite chances of getting AF in blanking period are quite high. Review meds and situation April 2023! Touch wood no more episodes since September 2021. Feeling great apart from taking bisop meds!!

All sounds completely normal so soon after your ablation. I had frequent a-fib episodes after my first cryo ablation that eventually lessened and were of shorter duration. I hope you continue to improve.
