Blood pressure

Never had that but my ankles became very swollen and I had to stop amlodopine (a calcium channel blocker.)
I’m the same as BobD - had really swollen ankles on amlodopine and a strange pin prick red rash on lower legs. It was about 5 years ago now, but can remember just feeling generally unwell on it so was changed to Losartan 50mg. From what I can gather, lots of people have a bit of ‘trial and error’ experience with various BP meds so GPs are very used to changing this type of medication if it causes problems. I think I gave amlodopine about 6-8 weeks and then GP accepted it didn’t suit and changed drugs quite happily. I hope things improve for you
I'm sensitive to many drugs but no appreciable side effects on amlodipine. But in general, it takes some time to get used to bp meds and hopefully the side effects will go away or diminish.
That said, hard to quantify from your post how much discomfort you are in. When in doubt, I would run it by both your doctor and pharmacist. Like mentioned, there are many different types of blood pressure medications to choose from and I assume your blood pressure was not all that high with such a low prescribed dose. Depending, you might even be able to get away with lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise and losing weight if necessary.

I took Amlodipine for6 weeks, and felt awful, completely zapped of all energy, nausea, stomach headache, and my hair fell out. Awful drug for me, but may suit others . I did not have expected ankle swelling though.
My legs and ankles got badly swollen and a mottled red rash on my legs but no aches, doctor took me off them immediately. I would contact your doctor or pharmacist straight away if the pain is severe to check if the symptoms are connected to the drug.
I take a verapamil 160 but only once a day and have Ramipril for blood pressure - 2.5 in the morning and 1.25 in the evening. Works for me. I was on the one you were taking but came off because of swollen ankles. Only discovered when I had an A&E visit where you do get to see attentive doctors. Good luck.
I had a bad reaction to same med. My hands hurt so much could not use them. Call doctor and ask for an Rx for different med. Worked fine for me.
